Application of Distraction Osteogenesis in Treatment of Mandibular Micrognathia Accompanying with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome

Abstract:Objective: This paper evaluates the effect of distraction osteogenesis in treatment of mandibular micrognathia accompanying with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS).Methods: 9 cases were treated by distraction osteogenesis.TMJ arthroplasty was carried out after 3 months.Every patient had been evaluated pre-and postoperatively with cephalometry and polysomnography.Results: After distraction process was finished,PAS and SaO_2 increased and AHI decreased.Subjective symptoms with OSAHS disappered or alleviated,and deformity of all patients was corrected appearently.Conclusion: DO has played important role in clinic treatment of mandibular deformity.
