The Scriptures Wrote by the Empress Bright and the Development of the East Asian Historical Data

Abstract:Shanghai Library preserves one piece of scripture, which is called the May 1st scripture in Japan, was written by the Japanese Empress Bright on May 1st 470 with earnest hope. It was not the document brought by Yang Shou jing from Japan as every one knows, but the precious scripture bought by Jian xia from Japan, when happened approximately from 1884 to 1891. The Epress Bright set about to boost the undertakings of writing scriptures from the year of 736, which last about twenty years. By extensively collecting the Buddhist literature and classics, which were collected by the personal and the temple, including the variety of classics, even no matter they were collected in the Buddhist records of Kai-yuan times, she try her best to copy them as many as possible. In fact, she established the system of scriptures of Japanese Nai-Liang Buddhism, based on the Buddhist records of Kai-yuan times of the Tang Dynasty. The overseas paleography and historical data is extremely valuable to the study between Chinese and Japanese intercultural history and the development of the foreign historical data.
