Abstract:The joining methods utilized for aluminum members include: welding,mechanical fastening,and adhesive bonding.The welding methods,heat-affected zone,and design method of weld strength are introduced.The mechanically fastened joints are connected with rivets,bolts,or screws.The design methods of mechanical fastening in foreign codes are discussed.The adhesive joints are seldom used in building structures.The aluminum connections differ from their counterparts in steel;this paper discusses the differences between them by summarizing the research findings in foreign codes and literatures.Further investigation is illustrated and proposed.
