Abstract:Objective To discuss the correlation ship of WHR, BMI and obesity,hyperlipideamia,hypertension of people from middle to high socio-economic class in Shenzhen and the epidemiological characteristic.Methods From September,2004 to August,2005,1515 managers in Shenzhen enterprise received the monitor of height,weight,waist circumference,hip circumference,blood pressure and blood lipid,and then they were divided into several groups by WHR and BMI.The correlation ship of WHR,BMI and of obesity,hyperlipideamia,hypertension in every group as well as the epidemiological characteristics was analyzed.Results The occurring rate of obesity was 27.9%;overweight is 21.6%;abdominal adiposity is 24.8%;hyperlipideamia is 55.3%(male: 63.9%,female: 39.8%),hypertension is 10.7%(male: 13.3%,female:6.1%).The people with hyperlipideamia and hypertension in abdominal adiposity group(divided by WHR) and visceral adiposity group(divided by BMI) were more than those in normal weight group(P0.01).Patients with abdominal adiposity had higher occurring rate of hyperlipideamia and hypertension than the patients with visceral adiposity had(P0.01).There was positive correlation ship of abdominal adiposity,visceral adiposity and hyperlipideamia,hypertension(P0.01).Conclusions The occurring rate of obesity,hyperlipideamia and hypertension in people from middle to high socio-economic class in Shenzhen is increasing significantly,particularly in hyperlipideamia.Obesity and hyperlipideamia are predominant factors of hypertension.Abdominal adiposity is a stronger risk factor compare with visceral adiposity.The specificity and sensitivity of diagnosing hypertension are promoted significantly higher by using WHR and BMI,and WHR is better than BMI in the specificity.
