Abstract:Traffic Guidance System is commonly recognized as an effective solution to solve urban transport problems at present and will become a kind of novel traffic management control pattern which can rightly guide travellers to arrive at destination, optimize the traffic stream, avoid traffic jam and manage modern traffic more effectively. From the beginning of introducing the frequently employed measurements to solving urban traffic problem, the design ideal of the intelligent traffic system is illustrated in this paper. The harmonious researches for some kinds of traffic control and guidance are analyzed. The attention of us is focused on the application of computational intelligence to traffic guidance and the design ideal of multi-agent system is emphasized. It is indicated by practice that urban traffic intelligent guidance system can effectively avoid the communication resource waste induced by a kind of traffic management pattern in which the traffic guidance system is separated from the traffic control. It can fully balance system computational resource and realize the information share between traffic control and traffic guidance system.

Abstract:Nowadays traffic jam becomes a serious problem and also one of the major bottlenecks that restrict the city's development. ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) is proposed to deal with this problem, which generally combines computer science, information system, communication and control technologies. However, many cities in the world have become so crowded in the peak time that most available route planning methods based on static city maps could not work well. In this paper, we design and implement a kind of intelligent traffic guidance system based on pricing model and dynamic toll collection policy, which includes vehicle-mounted terminal, application software and developed pricing algorithm in the server side.

Abstract:In this paper the authors present a web GIS-based urban traffic guidance system. First, a three-layer architecture of the traffic guidance system is introduced, including the client layer, server layer, and database layer. The function of each layer is analyzed. Next, the authors analyze the role web GIS played in the traffic guidance system and discuss the implementation method. Then the main functions and their relationship are analyzed. The system was implemented based on ASP.NET and ArcIMS and has been in use in a major city of China, which proves the system is effective in practice. © ASCE.

Abstract:With the continual going deeply into reform and opening, the development of economy and the advance of people living standard, the amount of mobile vehicles increasing, it results in deterioration of the traffic. In order to reconcile urban transportation, this paper presents a design and realization of an advanced urban traffic surveillance and management system. It is an urban traffic surveillance command platform integrated by transportation information collecting, information processing, information syncretizing, information releasing, traffic controlling and managing. Aiming at the characteristic of domestic mingled transportation, the system provides the urban traffic surveillance command system of LCHA to the traffic management department. With this system, we can take good and efficient use of various traffic resources to construct the urban harmonic transportation.

Abstract:A new integrated urban traffic control system(IUTCS) was introduced.After analyzing the urban traffic control system's development tendency of integration and intelligentization,this paper researched on the basic principle,prototype system and the system architecture of the new IUTCS,and analyzed the physical architecture and logical architecture which consist of three layers: central network control layer,area network control layer and intersection control layer. The main function characteristics of the new control system and some special function modules were also introduced,including master control module,communication protocol conversion module,data analysis and information display module,function expansion module,and user work platform terminal module.

Abstract:The real time forecast for short-term traffic flow is the foundation of urban traffic control and guidance, which is also one of main functions of intelligent transportation system. It's proved by studies that none of forecasting models can dominate the others in all situations. A intelligent forecasting system for short-term traffic flow is proposed and constituted in this paper, in which the intelligent model choice and combination of forecasting results given by different models are implemented based on the thought of intelligent and combining forecast. It's shown by simulations that the system has good adaptability to the change of environment and can improve the forecast veracity. Applying the multi-agent technique, this forecast system is constructed and the architecture and principle of such an intelligent forecast supported system based on multi-agent is also mentioned in this paper.

After the characteristics for control and guidance are given In this paper, a hierarchical coordination system architecture and optimal model for dynamic traffic control and guidance is constructed based on current dynamic traffic assignment model and traffic optimal control model, and a heuristic algorithm for the model is mentioned. At last the simulation results applying such model and algorithm is given.

Abstract:Based on the RFSIM and GIS technology and combined with the database and wireless communication technology and so on,a city real-time traffic guidance system is built.The system mainly consists of three sub-modules: traffic data acquisition module,traffic database module and real-time traffic induction module.This is the first time puts forward RFSIM technology in traffic information collection and release.The system can more effectively achieve real-time dynamic guidance in urban traffic complex network,and it is conducive to scientific use of road resources and avoiding traffic jams.

Abstract:The coordination between the Urban Traffic Control(UTC) and the Urban Traffic Guidance (UTG) is one of the most essential problems of urban traffic management. In this paper, it is demonstrated that the influence of UTC and UTG upon the whole traffic system is non-equilibrium when the system approaches the critical point, and UTG is the dominating factor (also called Order Parameter) which determines the evolution of the whole system. A traffic flow assignment model is then proposed based on the slaving principle of synergetic theory. This model can be used to analyze the collaboration between UTC and UTG, and its feasibility is validated through simulations.

Abstract:Description of traffic state of road network is one of the most important aspects in intelligent dynamic route guidance system(DRGS),which has direct effect on guidance.The components of state vector and calculation methods of road network are studied.Combined with the short-term forecasting of traffic flow in intelligent DRGS,the state vector of road network is proposed.The state vector includes comprehensive saturations of the road on which the guidance unit locates,the downstream roads of guidance unit and the objective regions.The calculation method of comprehensive saturation and merger rules of similar state are designed.The dynamic determination process of road weight in the comprehensive saturation is also studied.Many simulation experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of description method and the impact of state parameters on guidance effect.The results and analysis indicate that the proposed description method of road network is effective in intelligent DRGS.

Abstract:Decision making of guidance unit is one of the key aspects in the implementation of intelligent dynamic route guidance system(DRGS), which has direct effect on guidance. The mode of guidance information of DRGS is proposed. The proportion and turning rate forecasting method of multi-destination traffic flow on the road where the variable message signs(VMS) locats is designed. Based on the methods mentioned above, the comprehensive guidance information of guidance unit in DRGS is presented. The results and analysis of simulation experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed decision making of guidance unit.

Abstract:Traffic has always been the infrastructure of national economic and social development. With the pace of urbanization unprecedented speedup and the increase of vehicle possessions, traffic congestion has become a big problem in modern cities. Regional traffic guidance system provides traffic information for road travelers in pre-trip and in on-trip, and guides travelers to change travel modes, choose travel routes, and save travel time to take full advantage of road network resources. Variable message sign (VMS) is one of the main ways to provide traffic information in metropolitan road network, but traditional VMS guidance regions are designated manually by traffic administrators to cause very bad effectiveness and efficiency, and there are even some VMS used only for advertising that have nothing to do with the traffic guidance management. We analyze the traffic guidance model based on VMS, and study the dynamic regional partition problem and the dynamic traffic guidance problem under real-time traffic conditions, and put forward the architecture and two algorithms. The architecture serves mainly for the whole cycle of developing VMS based guidance from raw data collection to traffic information publish. The algorithms dynamically partition traffic guidance regions and dynamically change the vehicle turning ratio at intersections to balance traffic flow and save travel time in guidance regions. The cellular automaton method based on SWARM platform is employed to simulate traffic environment, and verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the model and the algorithms by compare with the other traditional regional guidance algorithm.

Abstract:Traffic guidance system is a method publishing the processed traffic data in a public platform and as a reference for the user to select the path. Amount of information user receiving in a short time, not only a effects the identify rate of information,but also distracts the driver’ s attention,threats to their safety. Aiming at this problem,a system is proposed with a method of road network dynamic programming. With the environmental data of users and map-matching algorithm to improve the accuracy of locate position. the method of road network dynamic programming is involved into this system to reduce the unnecessary road status information, and the data exchange technology and coordinate transformation are used to improve system performance at the application of the mobile terminal. Experimental results show that the system can prove the positioning accuracy rate is above 95% , and compared with the traditional method of publication,which can effectively reduce the amount of information published by 70% .

This system is based on data fusion and data mining and the operation environment is based on GIS. With the information support of the existing systems, this system can achieve these functions: judgment of traffic state, decision support for traffic management and quick response for the emergency and incident. Finally, the realization process of the system is given.

Abstract:In order to distribute traffic flow guidance information board(TFGIB) in urban properly,the optimization model of configuration of TFGIB was put forward based on the restriction of improving guidance coverage rate and reducing guidance repeat rate.The layout optimization function of TFGIB to maximize the guiding rate of traffic volume was established on the presumption that road network condition and traffic demand area were ensured,the algorithm of the layout function was designed on the basis of genetic algorithm,and the reasonable quantity of TFGIB was confirmed under the restriction.The model was proved through a road network with 15 nodes.It is pointed that when 6 TFGIB are collocated in the net,the guidance repeat rate is 1.000,the guiding coverage rate reaches 0.978,and it is optimal configuration.The result indicates that the method can get the maximum guiding coverage rate under determinate guiding repeat rate,and is an effective method to improve traffic guidance efficiency.2 tabs,4 figs,9 refs.

Abstract:The objective of this paper is to offer the predicted real-time dynamic values of traffic volume at junctions for the City Traffic Flow Guidance System, thereby ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of vehicle guidance. According to the least square approaching principle, a datum curve model and a difference correction model are first established using exponent smooth forecasting method. Based on this, a real-time dynamic model for forecasting traffic volume is developed, and the application of the model is illustrated using an example.

Abstract:As an important part of the urban Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) and Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS), short-term road traffic prediction system has received special attention in recent decades. The success of ATMS and ATIS technology deployment is heavily dependent on the availability of timely and accurate estimation or prediction of prevailing and emerging traffic conditions. We studied a real-time road traffic prediction system developed for Beijing based on various traffic detection systems. The logical architecture of the system was presented, including raw data level, data processing and calculation level, and application level. Four key function servers were introduced, namely, the database server, calculation server, Geographic Information System(GIS) server, and web application server. The functions, function modules, and the data flow of the proposed traffic prediction system were analyzed, and subsequently prediction models used in this system are described. Finally, the prediction performance of the systemin practice was analyzed. The application of the system in Beijing indicated that the proposed and developed system was feasible, robust, and reliable in practice.
