Analysis of Strength and Stiffness for Heavy-duty Gas Turbine Casing

Abstract:High-power heavy-duty gas turbine casing generally use the forging and casting two ways to manufacture.Although cast casing can easy procession,installation and low cost,as temperature great affect its wall thickness,so cast casing was less used at equipment even its weight and size without have especially requirements.Based on considering the impact of temperature factor,the finite element strength and stiffness analysis of high-power heavy-duty gas turbine cast casing was analysed under combination loads,which constituted by rotor gravity,stator blade row axial force and torque,aerodynamic force,gas pressure and thermal expansion force,and the conclusions obtained:the temperature is an important impact factor affecting the casing strength and stiffness,and the maximum stress and strain generated at casing by combination loads considering the impact of temperature,but its value still in a reasonable range.Analysis methods and calculate results are references for similar devices design and manufacture.
