Common Information Model in Network Analysis Applications

Abstract:As one of the key components of EMS applications, from the viewpoint of the network analysis applications the general data requirement of these applications is presented, the support of common information model (CIM) to above-mentioned data requirement is researched and three problems are further clarified, they are: what kind of information models for network analysis applications can be provided by CIM model base; how to utilize these models; what are the deficiencies of CIM models. As for these problems five categories of information models, i.e., measurement model, protection model, control model, topology model and equipment model, and the application of these models in network analysis are presented. In addition, the applications of CIM to network analysis in near future are prospected.
