Abstract:Three new ent-kaurane diterpenoids, phyllostacins C-E (1-3), together with six known analogues, oridonin (4), ponicidin (5), effusanin A (6), rabdoternin E (7), rabdoternin F (8), and macrocalyxoformin E (9), were isolated from the aerial parts of Isodon phyllostachys. The structures of compounds (1-3) were determined on the basis of spectroscopic methods including extensive 1D and 2D NMR analysis. All compounds were evaluated for their inhibitory activity against K562, HL60 and HepG2 (hepatoma) cell lines.

Abstract:Two novel ent-kauranoids with new sub-skeleton types, gesneroidins G and H were isolated as white powder from the ether extract of the leaves of Isodon gesneroides through normal phase column chromatography. Their structures were elucidated as 3beta,6alpha,7beta-triacetoxyl-15-hydroxyl-14-oxo-ent-15,16-seco-kaur-11,17-olide and 1alpha-hydroxyl-3beta,6alpha,7beta,11beta-tetraacetoxylent-nor-15,17-kaur-8,16-olide on the basis of the spectral evidences including ID and 2D NMR spectra.

Abstract:Objective To study the chemical constituents from the stems and leaves of Isodon eriocalyx. Methods The chemical constituent of I. eriocalyx was separated and purified by chromatographic methods and structurally elucidated by physicochemical characteristics and spectral data. Results One new compound was isolated from the stems and leaves of I. eriocalyx, and it was identified as 15β-acetoxy-1α-hydroxy-7α,20-epoxy-ent-kaur-16-en-6-one (1). Conclusion Compound 1 is a new ent-kaurane diterpenoid named as eriocalyxin H.

Abstract:A new ent-kauranoid named laxiflorin D (1) was isolated from the leaves of Isodon eriocalyx var. laxiflora, whose structure was determined by the spectroscopic methods. Six known ent-kaurane diterpenoids, laxiflorin A (2), maoecrystals A-C (3～5), Q (6) and eriocalyxin B (7), together with cirsimaritin (8) and 2α-hydroxyursolic acid (9), were also isolated.

Abstract:From the ethanolic extract of the leaves of Isodon xerophilus, three new ent-kaurane diterpenoids named xerophilusins L-N (1 - 3), together with three known ones designated as rabdoternin A (4), longikaurin F (5) and ponicidin (6), were isolated and structurally elucidated. Compound 6 demonstrated most potent cytotoxic activity against K562 and T24 human tumor cell lines with IC(50) = 0.09 and 0.32 microg/ml, respectively.

Abstract:Further investigation on the leaves of Isodon xerophilus afforded three novel ent-kaurane diterpenoids, xerophilusins D-F (1-3), together with seven known compounds, phyllostachysin Lambda (4), oleanolic acid, caffeic acid, rosmarinic acid, rutin, quercetin-3-O-beta -D-glucopyranoside, and quercetin. Structures of 1-3 were elucidated on the basis of their spectral properties and X-ray crystallographic analysis. Compound 1 showed broad spectra inhibiting human tumor cells and significant cytotoxicity.

The structure of the new compound was determined by spectral methods (1D-,2D-NMR and MS). Four of the compounds were tested for their cytotoxicity towards HL60, SMMC-7721 and Hela cells.

Ham collected in Jiyuan Prefecture, Henan Province, together with fourteen known compounds lasiodonin (3), oridonin (4), ponicidin, rubescensins C and D, rabdoternin C, wikstroemioidin B, enmenol-1alpha-O-beta-D-glucoside, enmenol, pedalitin, salicylic acid, ursolic acid, beta-sitosterol and daucosterol. Their structures were determined on the basis of spectral data.

Abstract:Isogeopyxins A-C (1-3), three new diterpenoids with ent-kaurane, ent-pimarane, and ent-abietane scaffolds, respectively, along with six known ent-kauranoids, were isolated from the fermentation culture of Geopyxis sp. XY93 inhabiting the leaves of Isodon parvifolia. Their structures were elucidated by interpretation of spectroscopic data, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. It marks the first time that ent-kauranoids, characteristic metabolites of Isodon species, have been isolated from an associated endophytic fungus.
