Effects of Several Traditional Chinese Medicinal Herbal Extracts on Learning and Memory in Mice

Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of Blueberry,Cuscuta chinensis Lam.and Alpinia oxyphylla Miq.extracts on learning and memory in mice.Methods The mice were fed with the three herbal extracts compound for 30 days,learning and memory ability of mice was performed in Y-maze.The levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) and the content of malondialdehyde(MDA) in brain were determined.Results The compound of three kinds of herbal extracts could increase learning and memory ability of mice,increase the activities of SOD and GSH-PX and decrease level of MDA of brain tissues.Conclusion Blueberry,Cuscuta chinensis Lam.and Alpinia oxyphylla Miq.compounds can improve learning and memory ability of mice.
