Abstract:Let γt(G) and γ2(G) be the total domination number and the 2-domination number of a graph G, respectively. It has been shown that: γt(T) ≤ γ2(T) for any tree T. In this paper, we provide a constructive characterization of those trees with equal total domination number and 2-domination number.

Abstract:Let G=(V,E) be a graph. A set S⊆V is a dominating set of G if every vertex not in S is adjacent with some vertex in S. The domination number of G, denoted by γ(G), is the minimum cardinality of a dominating set of G. A set S⊆V is a paired-dominating set of G if S dominates V and 〈S〉 contains at least one perfect matching. The paired-domination number of G, denoted by γp(G), is the minimum cardinality of a paired-dominating set of G. In this paper, we provide a constructive characterization of those trees for which the paired-domination number is twice the domination number.

Abstract:Let i(G) and γs(G) be the independent domination number and secure domination number of a graph G, respectively. Merouane and Chellali (2015) [12] proved that i(T)≤γs(T) for any tree T and asked to characterize the trees T with i(T)=γs(T). In this paper, we answer the question. We introduce three operations on trees and prove that any tree T with i(T)=γs(T) can be obtained by these operations.

Abstract:For a given connected graph G of order n, a set S of vertices of G is a total dominating set, if every vertex of V(G) is adjacent to some vertex in S. The total domination number of G, denoted by γt(G), is the minimum cardinality of a total dominating set of G. We prove that, if T is a tree of order n>1 and T≠K1,n-1, then γt(T)≤min{(2n)/(3), n-l,([n/2])+l-1}, where l is the number of leaves of T.

Abstract:A set $S$ of vertices in a graph $G$ is a total dominating set of $G$ if every vertex is adjacent to a vertex in $S$. The total domination number $\gamma_t(G)$ is the minimum cardinality of a total dominating set of $G$. The total domination subdivision number $\mbox{sd}_{\gamma_t}(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the minimum number of edges that must be subdivided (where each edge in $G$ can be subdivided at most once) in order to increase the total domination number. Haynes et al. (Discrete Math. 286 (2004) 195--202) have given a constructive characterization of trees whose total domination subdivision number is~$3$. In this paper, we give new characterizations of trees whose total domination subdivision number is 3.

Abstract:Boesch’s theorem says that “Suppose that a connected graph G has two non-adjacent 2-degree vertices u1 and u2. Then t(G)≤t(G/{u1,u2}), where t(G) is the number of spanning trees of G.” In this paper, we generalize this theorem as follows: “Suppose that G is a connected graph of order at least 3, and that u1 and u2 are two vertices of degree m and n, respectively, in G. Then t(G)≤mn−m02m+n−2m0t(G/{u1,u2}), where m0(≥0) is the number of multiple edges between u1 and u2.”

Abstract:Suppose G = (V,E) is a graph with no isolated vertex. A subset S of V is called a locating-total dominating set of G if every vertex in V is adjacent to a vertex in S, and for every pair of distinct vertices u and v in V −S, we have N(u)∩S 6= N(v)∩S. The locating-total domination number of G, denoted by γ t (G), is the minimum cardinality of a locating-total dominating set of G. The annihilation number of G, denoted by a(G), is the largest integer k such that the sum of the first k terms of the nondecreasing degree sequence of G is at most the number of edges in G. In this paper, we show that for any tree of order n ≥ 2, γ t (T ) ≤ a(T ) + 1 and we characterize the trees achieving this bound.

Abstract:A subset D of the vertex set of a graph G is a secure dominating set of G if D is a dominating set of G and if, for each vertex u not in D, there is a vertex v in D adjacent to u such that the swap set (D \ {v}) {u} is again a dominating set of G. The secure domination number of G, denoted by s(G), is the cardinalityof a smallest secure dominating set of G. In this paper, we prove that for any tree T on n 3 vertices, and the bounds are sharp, where and t are the numbers of leaves and stems of T , respectively. Abstract:Let p be a positive integer and G = (V(G), E(G)) a simple graph. A p-dominating set of G is a subset S of V(G) such that every vertex not in S is dominated by at least p vertices in S. The p-domination number gamma(p)(G) is the minimum cardinality among the p-dominating sets of G. In this paper, for p >= 2, we give three equivalent conditions for trees with unique minimum p-dominating sets and also give a constructive characterization of such trees.

Abstract:Let p be a positive integer and G = (V(G); E(G)) a graph. A p-dominating set of G is a subset S of V(G) such that every vertex not in S is dominated by at least p vertices in S. The p-domination number gamma(p)(G) is the minimum cardinality among the p-dominating sets of G. Let T be a tree with order n >= 2 and p >= 2 a positive integer. A vertex of V(T) is a p-leaf if it has degree at most p - 1, while a p-support vertex is a vertex of degree at least p adjacent to a p-leaf. In this note, we show that gamma(p)(T) >= (n + vertical bar L-p(T)vertical bar - vertical bar S-p(T)vertical bar)/2, where L-p(T) and S-p(T) are the sets of p-leaves and p-support vertices of T, respectively. Moreover, we characterize all trees attaining this lower bound.

Abstract:A graph G without isolated vertices is total domination vertex critical, if for any vertex v of G that is not adjacent to a pendant vertex, the total domination number of G-v is less than the total domination number of G. We call these graphs γt-critical. If G is a γt-critical graph of order n, then it can be shown that n≤△(G)(γt(G)-1)+1, where △(G) is the maximum degree of G. In this paper, we characterize the graphs in the case n≤△(G)(γt(G)-1)+1 with γt(G) = 3.
