Abstract:In this paper, a new virus nonlinear dynamic model with time delay is proposed.Moreover, its stability, Hopf bifurcation and other dynamical behavior like chaos are studied.It is indicated that if the reproductive ratio is less than one, the infection-free equilibrium is partially asymptotically stable.Analytical and pictorial results show that if the reproductive ratio is greater than one, the combined effect of the reproductive ratio and the time delay is to create a rich dynamical behavior.Observing and analyzing the process from periodic oscillations to chaos can explain the different pathological feature of patients under different treatment stages.Finally, a simulation example is given to illustrate the correctness and assistance of the study on the virus dynamics research.

Abstract:By considering the varying latency period of computer virus, we propose a novel model for computer virus propagation in network. Under this model, we give the threshold value determining whether or not the virus finally dies out, and study the local stability of the virus-free and virus equilibrium. It is found that the model may undergo a Hopf bifurcation. Next, we use different methods to prove the global asymptotic stability of the equilibria: the virus-free equilibrium by using the direct Lyapunov method and virus equilibrium by using a geometric approach. Finally, some numerical examples are given to support our conclusions.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a delayed computer virus propagation model and study its dynamic behaviors. First, we give the threshold value R0 determining whether the virus dies out completely. Second, we study the local asymptotic stability of the equilibria of this model and it is found that, depending on the time delays, a Hopf bifurcation may occur in the model. Next, we prove that, if R0=1, the virus-free equilibrium is globally attractive; and when R0<1, it is globally asymptotically stable. Finally, a sufficient criterion for the global stability of the virus equilibrium is obtained.

Abstract:A computer virus model with infection delay and recovery delay is considered. The sufficient conditions for the global stability of the virus infection equilibrium are established. We show that the time delay can destabilize the virus infection equilibrium and give rise to Hopf bifurcations and stable periodic orbits. By the normal form and center manifold theory, the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and stability of the bifurcating periodic orbits are determined. Numerical simulations are provided to support our theoretical conclusions.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel computer virus propagation model with dual delays and multi-state antivirus measures is considered. Using theories of stability and bifurcation, it is proven that there exists a critical value of delay for the stability of virus prevalence. When the delay exceeds the critical value, the system loses its stability and a Hopf bifurcation occurs. Furthermore, the explicit formulas determining the stability and direction of bifurcating periodic solutions are obtained by applying the center manifold theorem and the normal form theory. Finally, some numerical simulations are performed to verify the theoretical analysis. The conclusions of this paper can contribute to a better theoretical basis for understanding the long-term actions of virus propagation in networks.

Abstract:We investigate the dynamical behavior of a virus infection model with delayed nonlytic immune response. By analyzing corresponding characteristic equations, the local stabilities of two boundary equilibria are established. By using suitable Lyapunov functional and LaSalle’s invariance principle, we establish the global stability of the infection-free equilibrium. We find that the infection free equilibriumE0is globally asymptotically stable whenR0⩽1, and the infected equilibrium without immunityE1is local asymptotically stable when11+bβ/cdwe obtain the sufficient conditions to the local stability of the infected equilibrium with immunityE2. We show that the time delay can change the stability ofE2and lead to the existence of Hopf bifurcations. The stabilities of bifurcating periodic solutions are studied and numerical simulations to our theorems are provided.

Abstract:<p>In this paper, a virus model with latent infection, Beddington‚ÄďDeAngelis infection function and three time delays is proposed, and the basic reproduction number is obtained. The global dynamics of the model is analyzed by estimating the modulus of the characteristic equation and constructing an appropriate Lyapunov function. When the basic reproduction number is less than one, the virus-free steady state is globally asymptotically stable. When the basic reproduction number is greater than one, the infected steady state is globally asymptotically stable and the virus-free steady state is unstable.</p>

Abstract:In this paper, a class of virus infection models with CTLs response is considered. We incorporate an immune delay and two intracellular delays into the virus infection model. It is found that only incorporating two intracellular delays almost does not change the dynamics of the system, but incorporating an immune delay changes the dynamics of the system very greatly, namely, a Hopf bifurcation and oscillations can appear. Those results show immune delay dominates intracellular delays in some viral infection models, which indicates the human immune system has a special effect in virus infection models with CTLs response, and the human immune system itself is very complicated. In fact, people are aware of the complexity of the human immune system in medical science, which coincides with our investigating. We also investigate the global Hopf bifurcation of the system with the immune delay as a bifurcation parameter.

Abstract:In this paper, a four-dimensional viral infectious model with delay is considered. The stability of the two equilibria and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are investigated. It is found that there are stability switches and Hopf bifurcations occur when the delay τ passes through a sequence of critical values. Using the normal form theory and center manifold argument [Hassard B, Kazarino D, Wan Y. Theory and applications of Hopf bifurcation. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press; 1981], the explicit formulaes which determine the stability, the direction and the period of bifurcating periodic solutions are derived. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the validity of the main results.

Abstract:We study the problem of global asymptotic stability for equilibria of a HIV-1 virus model.We broaden the construction method into the viral model with infinite distributed delay, and cell-to-cell transmission, respectively.Numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results for sharp threshold property. The goal of this paper is to study the threshold dynamics of an HIV-1 viral infection model with cell-mediated immune responses and direct cell-to-cell transmission mechanism. The model demonstrates global threshold dynamics with respect to the reproductive numbers for viral infection ź0 and for CTL immune response ź1. The proofs of main results come from suitable uses of analyzing the characteristic equation and constructing Lyapunov functionals. Specifically, if ź0 1, the CTL-activated equilibrium E2 is locally and globally asymptotically stable, and the infection is chronic with persistent CTLs response. Numerical simulations are performed to support our results.
Mathematical analysis of an HIV model with latent reservoir, delayed CTL immune response and immune impairment

Abstract:In this paper, an in-host HIV infection model with latent reservoir, delayed CTL immune response and immune impairment is investigated. By using suitable Lyapunov functions and LaSalle's invariance principle, it is shown that when time delay is equal to zero, the immunity-inactivated reproduction ratio is a threshold determining the global dynamics of the model. By means of the persistence theory for infinite dimensional systems, it is proven that if the immunity-inactivated reproduction ratio is greater than unity, the model is permanent. Choosing time delay as the bifurcation parameter and analyzing the corresponding characteristic equation of the linearized system, the existence of a Hopf bifurcation at the immunity-activated equilibrium is established. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the theoretical results and reveal the effects of some key parameters on viral dynamics.

Abstract:In this paper, a general viral infection model with humoral immunity is investigated. The model describes the interaction of uninfected target cells, infected cells, free viruses and humoral immune response, incorporating two virus transmission modes and intracellular delay. Some reasonable hypothesises are made for the general incidence rates. Through stability analysis of equilibria under these hypothesises, the model exhibits threshold dynamics with respect to the immune-inactivated reproduction rate \begin{document}$ \mathfrak{R}_0 $\end{document} and the immune-activated reproduction rate \begin{document}$ \mathfrak{R}_1 $\end{document} . The theoretical results and corresponding numerical simulations show that the intracellular latency, both of virus-to-cell infection and cell-to-cell infection have direct effects on the global dynamics of the general viral infection model. Our results improve and generalize some known results on within-host virus dynamics.

Abstract:In this paper, we incorporate an extra logistic growth term for uninfected CD4+ T-cells into an HIV-1 infection model with both intracellular delay and immune response delay which was studied by Pawelek et al. in [26]. First, we proved that if the basic reproduction number R0 < 1, then the infection-free steady state is globally asymptotically stable. Second, when R0 > 1, then the system is uniformly persistent, suggesting that the clearance or the uniform persistence of the virus is completely determined by R0. Furthermore, given both the two delays are zero, then the infected steady state is asymptotically stable when the intrinsic growth rate of the extra logistic term is sufficiently small. When the two delays are not zero, we showed that both the immune response delay and the intracellular delay may destabilize the infected steady state by leading to Hopf bifurcation and stable periodic oscillations, on which we analyzed the direction of the Hopf bifurcation as well as the stability of the bifurcating periodic orbits by normal form and center manifold theory introduced by Hassard et al. Third, we engaged numerical simulations to explore the rich dynamics like chaotic oscillations, complicated bifurcation diagram of viral load due to the logistic term of target cells and the two time delays.

Abstract:In this paper, we derive a delayed epidemic model to describe the characterization of cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL)-mediated immune response against virus infection. The stability of equilibria and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are analysed. Theoretical results reveal that if the basic reproductive number is greater than 1, the positive equilibrium may lose its stability and the bifurcated periodic solution occurs when time delay is taken as the bifurcation parameter. Furthermore, we investigate an optimal control problem according to the delayed model based on the available therapy for hepatitis B infection. With the aim of minimizing the infected cells and viral load with consideration for the treatment costs, the optimal solution is discussed analytically. For the case when periodic solution occurs, numerical simulations are performed to suggest the optimal therapeutic strategy and compare the model-predicted consequences.

Abstract:In this paper, following a previous paper ([32] Permanence and extinction of a non-autonomous HIV-1 model with two time delays, preprint) on the permanence and extinction of a delayed non-autonomous HIV-1 within-host model, we introduce and investigate a delayed HIV-1 model including maximum homeostatic proliferation rate of CD4(+) T-cells and varying coefficients. By applying the asymptotic analysis theory and oscillation theory, we show: (i) the system will be permanent when the threshold value R-* > 1, and for this case we also obtain the explicit estimate of the eventual lower bound of the HIV-1 virus load; (ii) the threshold value R* < 1 implies the extinction of the virus. Furthermore, we obtain that the threshold dynamics is in agreement with that of the corresponding autonomous system, which extends the classic results for the system with constant coefficients. Numerical simulations are also given to illustrate our main results, and in particular, some sensitivity test of R-* is established.

Abstract:A delayed reaction-diffusion virus model with a general incidence function and spatially dependent parameters is investigated. The basic reproduction number for the model is derived, and the uniform persistence of solutions and global attractively of the equilibria are proved. We also show the global attractivity of the positive equilibria via constructing Lyapunov functional, in case that all the parameters are spatially independent. Numerical simulations are finally conducted to illustrate these analytical results.

Abstract:This paper considers stability, analysis of a discrete-time computer virus model in networks. The disease-free equilibrium and the disease equilibrium are first derived from the mathematical model. Then the sufficient condition of stability for the disease-free equilibrium is obtained by the first Lyapunov method. And the sufficient conditions of stability for the disease equilibrium are given by disc theorem. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the stability conditions.
