Abstract:The method of spatial prediction and evaluation in architectural programming is very important for the design brief.The space list of the brief is generated from spatial prediction and the rationality and scientificity of the spatial prediction results are guaranteed by the spatial evaluation.To establish a methodology of spatial prediction and evaluation system,we can use the experience of Post Occupation Evaluation(POE ),which acts as the basis of spatial prediction and some references in spatial evaluation methods or procedures.From the point of view of POE,the prediction and evaluation of space is the feedforward for post occupation evaluation.

Abstract:As the main factors of city scenes,the judgment of city architectural style was fuzzy and arbitrary.Based on the mathematical multi-factor-weighted model,this paper expounds how to determine the city architectural style through choosing the influence factors,assigning factor weight,and optimum weight stacking,etc.The study of architectural style in Yuhuan is taken as an example,and it shows that this method can meet the needs of urban design and construction,and has a greater operability.

Abstract:We introduced the evaluation of built environment course into the architecture design education for juniors.Students took campus buildings as the evaluation subjects,determined evaluation content by their day-to-day experience,and obtained objective data and forms through questionnaires and interviews,which represented thoughts and responses of users in the constructed environment.Based on the evaluation,we further discussed on the relation between the design intention and the usage effect of constructed environment to train students' abilities of comprehensively understanding architecture designs,and finding and solving problems.
The Influence of 2D/3D Urban Spatial Form Indicators on Surface Urban Heat Island Based on Spatial Regression Models: A Case Study of Hangzhou, China

Abstract:Rapid urbanization in China has caused the serious urban heat island (UHI) effect, which is endangering the environment where people live. Many studies have demonstrated the significant contributions of two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) urban spatial form indicators to UHI, but further research is expected to conduct given that UHI has spatial non-stationarity and spatial spillover effects of explanatory variables. Spatial regression models are particularly appropriate to solve the spatial non-stationarity problem. This essay seeks to analyze the impact of urban spatial form on UHI taking the spatial spillover effects into account. In this paper, Landsat 8 OLR/TIRS satellite image was used to invert surface urban heat island intensity (SUHII) in the central city of Hangzhou, China. The Moran's I index for SUHII was 0.457, indicating a substantial positive spatial autocorrelation. After the establishment of 2D/3D urban spatial form indicators at the block scale level, the influence of 2D/3D urban spatial form indicators on SUHII w`as examined using the spatial lag model (SLM), spatial error model (SEM), spatial Dubin model (SDM), and spatial Dubin error model (SDEM), respectively. Results suggest that SDM and SDEM fit better by considering spatial interaction of urban spatial form indicators. The coefficients for the ratio of impervious surface area (RISA), ABD (average building density), and sky view factors (SVF) were significantly positive, while the effects of the landscape shape index (LSI), average building height (ABH), average forest height (AFH), and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) were significantly negative on the SUHII. Additionally, there were spatial spillover effects of LSI, SVF, AFH, NDVI, and SUHII affecting SUHII. The findings imply that the urban form indicators and SUHII will affect the SUHII of adjacent blocks, so it is important to make suitable urban 2D/3D shapes to enhance the urban thermal environment. These findings would be helpful for urban planners to mitigate future UHI effects.

This paper investigated what does satisfaction actually mean and how does satisfaction connect with "delight" (quoted from The Pritzker Architecture Prize). The aim of this paper is to discuss the necessity and practical significance of assessment of user satisfaction, so that a new development of satisfaction assessment process is proposed based on spatial configuration and space syntax has been widely used through reviewing the exist studies on assessment of satisfaction.

Abstract:Urban planning is an important public policy relating to a city's development and construction.At different historical stages and under various social economic backgrounds,the control performances of urban planning indicate different characteristics and mechanisms.This paper establishes a framework for analyzing the spatial planning performance by integrating remote sensing decipherment,landscape matrix,planning control index,and planning decision logic.Via this framework,the paper analyzes the spatial-temporal evolution characteristics of Beijing's urban spatial form during 1978-2006,the control performances of planning during 1958-2004,and the evolution process of planning logics.The paper also discusses the internal mechanisms forming the differences in planning performance at different historical stages based on the analysis of urban designated function,urban spatial structure,urban size decisionmaking,developing model,and the change of multi-stakeholders.The purpose of this paper is to provide reference for improving decision-making mechanism in future urban planning.

Abstract:The availability of attractive green spaces is an integral part of urban quality of life. But the traditional methods of evaluating the level of green spaces shared by urban dwellers have some disadvantages. They are as follows: (1) Area of green spaces is always taken as an only indicator so that the importance of green gross inside the green space is ignored. (2) The spatial scale of the indicators is so macro that the micro-spatial pattern of the green spaces can't be reflected. (3) Evaluation of green spaces' system generally depends on the total area of green spaces. But other constraint factors are not taken into account. Keeping the limitation above in mind, this paper adopts a new approach for calculating the green spaces' qualities then tries to design a new model as to how given spaces attract citizens in the neighborhood with the help of RS&GIS technology.The green gross is equal to the sum of vegetation fractions derived from Thematic Mapper images of the green space. The model is based on the theory of spatial interaction. The meanings of all the parameters are as follows: The attractiveness is In direct ratio with the green spaces' qualities while in inverse ratio with the exponential distance. Furthermore, the model also considers several restriction factors such as the accessibility, entrance fees, quietness, spaciousness and so on. The weights awe Oven by simulation of Hopfield neuron network.At last the approaches and model above are applied into the city of Shanghai in China. Taking the green spaces of parks inside the outer ring road as the study sample, the results are in accord with the actual spatial characteristic satisfactorily. The model is made operational easily, which can not only monitor space-time variety of urban green space, but also provide a new indicator for urban green space system planning.

Abstract:Based on principles of psychoanalysis, the SD (semantic differential) method is introduced. This method makes it possible to evaluate space's objective from perceptual to rational and quantitative analysis. Operating key points for the SD method were summed up. Setting rules for evaluating scales, procedures for assessing operations, analysis methods for multifactor variables, and meanings of evaluating conclusions were provided. The space objective evaluation is one of the most important contents in architectural programming. The SD method is an important technique of contemporary methodology of design. It is significant for changing and developing the traditional theoretical system of architectural design.

Abstract:The research on urban development simulation and prediction plays an important role in urban planning and effective use of land. Many models have been built on land expansion, using different simulation and prediction techniques. To determine the feasibility of a method, criteria are needed to evaluate the result. Most currently-used criteria consider only quantitative factors, neglecting the spatial factors. However, generating equal results in area of lands does not guarantee the similar accuracy of two predictions. In this research, spatial factors are considered and a new evaluating indicator which compares not only the areas of the prediction and the actual land, but also the diversity of the spatial distribution is proposed. The result of this evaluating indicator named modified-Kappa coefficient provides a better criterion for model evaluation.

Abstract:With the continuous development of the social economy, the urban residential structure is also changing, and people have higher and higher requirements for the living environment. Moreover, the landscape construction of public spaces in cities is an important part of the city. It is easy to neglect the comprehensive consideration of historical development and regional culture in architectural projects. The overall lack of individuality in urban design, the lack of characteristics of adapting measures to local conditions, and the blind emphasis on architectural landscaping have led to a serious lack of regional cultural characteristics and spiritual culture in public places. Therefore, in terms of the problems of insufficient landscape construction quality and green concepts being insufficient in the construction environment of cities, an evaluation method system is established in the paper to further study the shortcomings of the scenic area architecture. What is more, relying on the personal experience of the users in the scenic spot and understanding the real needs of the public space landscape environment around the scenic spot, scientific methods and a complete system are applied to make an overall assessment of the public space in the built residential area. Besides, according to the data analysis of the simulation experiment, the advantages and disadvantages of the public space in the residential area are extracted. Combined with the current research status, the green concept design strategy of the public space landscape environment in the scenic spot is summarized. Lastly, according to the data analysis of the simulation experiment, the evaluation satisfaction of the activity atmosphere, plant configuration, and overall layout is improved by 4.2%, 3.7%, and 3.1% compared with other methods, which proves that this study has a more reasonable planning program to meet the various needs of public open space. The development of urban landscape design provides a valuable reference.

Abstract:Virtual city is the frontier field of 3D city geographic information system research. For this reason, first, how to build a city 3D landscape is discussed and researched. At the same time, it outlines the development situation and basic principles of city 3D simulation and then analyzes the establishment of 3D city. There are two methods of landscape which focuses on the realization methods of 3D scene modeling, dynamic simulation and real-time driving, then presents the role, significance and development prospects of the dynamic simulation technology of urban 3D landscape and summarizes the 3D simulation besides real-time driving of the city. GIS combined with the application possibilities and development direction produced an application example of urban 3D landscape dynamic simulation. From the perspective of comprehensive quantitative evaluation of landscape vision, a comprehensive evaluation metric system based on basic visual elements and landscape vision sensitivity is designed, and a comprehensive evaluation method of landscape vision based on GIS spatial analysis and fuzzy analytic hierarchy process is proposed. From both an overall and a single-factor perspective, this research objectively exposes the distribution characteristics of landscape visual resources and their affecting elements. The comparison with the urban landscape evaluation results based on user scores verifies the reliability and advancement of this method, which is a quantitative description and evaluation of the landscape. Visual resources provide a new research idea and research method and also provide an objective reference and decision support for the comprehensive development planning of scenic spots and the development and protection of urban landscapes.

Abstract:The question of how to implement spatial planning more effective is a fundamental but very difficult one and one that has been of great interest to both the academic and practical community. However, a comprehensive review of the conceptual models and methodological systems for evaluating spatial planning implementation, and the existing practical research results of various types of spatial planning implementation evaluation, are yet to be presented. The study systematically reviews the main research findings in the field of spatial planning implementation from four aspects: conceptual analysis, measurement methods, evaluation frameworks and evaluation methods. This study found three distinct evolutionary features of research in this field: (1) The evaluation concept changes from complete rationality to limited rationality; (2) research methodology changes from a simple closed system to a complex open system; (3) the research perspective shifts from the map to the main body of planning implementation behavior. It is suggested that an important part of future research lies in establishing a system for evaluating the effectiveness based on a single subject who is an actor in the planning implementation process. On this basis, the micro-influencing mechanisms of planning implementation effects will then be explored. Deepening the research to the individual level will help improve planning implementation's effectiveness.

Abstract:Supported by the spatial information technologies(SIT),this paper builds a database by integrating multi-source data like RS,spatial survey,economic statistics,etc.,establishes a comprehensive indicator system for eco-sensitivity assessment,and accomplishes the planning of urban landscape ecological pattern by applying the results of comprehensive assessment based on multi-element spatial analysis method.The indicator system proposed in this paper includes eight elements and fifteen indicators,covering the aspects such as river system,geo-environment,thermal environment,oxygen source green land,plant resources,animal resources,visual landscape,local cultural heritage,etc.Results were achieved based on experts knowledge and spatially overlaying multi-criterions methods.

Abstract:Chinese calligraphy and Suzhou classical gardens exhibit unique and distinctive formal attributes and layout styles. This paper examines the interrelationships from a spatial perspective, using classical gardens such as the Humble Administrators' Garden, the Lingering Garden, and the Master of Nets Garden, alongside Yan Zhenqing's Three Manuscripts (颜公三稿), as illustrative examples. From the theoretical stance of "Heterogeneous Homology", this investigation assesses the comparability between calligraphy and garden design. It highlights the shared spatial features of "Emptiness-Substance" and "Denseness-Sparseness", analyzing their specific applications within each realm. Furthermore, the "Correspondence and Guidance" is fulfilled to effectively integrate the spatial boundary within their respective domains. The findings reveal profound similarities in spatial construction between calligraphy and garden design, highlighting the traditional Chinese aesthetic pursuits of emptiness, distance, and externality. These findings affirm the ancient Chinese pursuit of the natural philosophical concept of "the unity of nature and human". Consequently, it is proposed that future design and urban spatial planning should emphasize the application of the spatial techniques and cultural meanings embedded in these arts. This approach aims to provide a multidimensional and detailed interdisciplinary perspective on future research concerning Asian architectural culture and art history.

Abstract:Abstract With the current acceleration of urbanization, the evaluation of spatial planning of historical blocks has become an emphasis in urban research. Reasonable spatial interpretation and planning evaluation deserve consideration. This study takes the historical block of the Three Streets and Two Alleys as an example, which is a key development strategy of Nanning city. With GIS spatial analysis method and improved spatial syntax (sDNA model) to construct the syntax model of the core area of the first phase of the third streets and two alleys. Through the analysis of time scale, integration degree, Choice and understandability, the first-phase planning of the block is evaluated on multiple scales. The result shows three conclusions: (1) As an advanced space syntax method (sDNA model) has significant advantages in large-scale in the evaluation of historical blocks. (2) On the whole, the planning evaluation of third streets and two alleys follows the “formal-traffic-function” principle. The integration degree, Choice and understandability have made a certain progress. (3) The correlation between spatial morphology and spatial function is verified by combining commercial data, it shown the space is a part of developing social and economic life. The research argues that, as an advanced special analysis method, sDNA model has a great application prospect.
