Role of MRI in Assessing Fetus Cardiac Abnormalities

Abstract:In the past few years,the use of magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) in fetus has been increasingly reported as an adjunct to ultrasound in the evaluation of fetal abnormalities.However,fetal motion and without gating have limited the use of MRI for evaluation of fetal cardiac abnormalities.The fast imaging employing steady-state acquistion(FIESTA) sequence provides images with good tissue contrast.We report our preliminary experience with MRI in fetal heart evaluation and suggest that diagnosis of fetal cardiac anomalies can be provided by fetal MRI in some patients.
