Abstract:In this paper, a new value for set games, named co-marginalistic contribution value, is characterised by the standard axioms of global efficiency and equal treatment property, and another axiom of co-coalitional marginalistic monotonicity, which is a modification of the axiom of monotonicity. The co-marginalistic contribution value for set games is analogous to the solidarity value for n-person TU-games. Since the co-marginalistic contribution value does not satisfy the axiom of additivity, the proof of the characterisation is much different from that for TU-games.

Abstract:In this paper a new model of multichoice games with a coalition structure is proposed, which can be seen as an extension of the Owen coalition structure. A coalitional value on the given model is defined, which can be seen as an extension of the Owen value. Three axiomatic systems are studied. The first one is enlightened by Owen's characterization for the Owen value and Faigle and Kern's characterization for the Shapley value on games under precedence constraints. The second one is inspired by Bilbao's characterization for the Shapley value on games on convex geometries. The last one is an extension of Young's characterization for the Shapley value on traditional games. Furthermore, the relationship between the given coalitional value and the core of multichoice games with a coalition structure is discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a new kind of players as a compromise between the null player and the A-null player. It turns out that the axiom requiring this kind of players to get zero-payoff together with the well-known axioms of efficiency, additivity, coalitional symmetry, and intra-coalitional symmetry characterize the Shapley–solidarity value. This way, the difference between the Shapely–solidarity value and the Owen value is pinpointed to just one axiom.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a new efficient value for transferable utility cooperative games with a coalition structure. It first assigns to every player his Aumann–Drèze value and then allocates the remainder of the worth of the grand coalition among players equally. As it is identical with the Aumann–Drèze value for coalitional games with a singleton coalition structure, we call it the egalitarian efficient extension of the Aumann–Drèze value. We provide three axiomatizations of it and compare it with other well-known efficient coalitional values, especially the Owen value and the two-step Shapley value.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the equal surplus division value for cooperative games with a level structure, which is a sequence of coalition structures becoming coarser and coarser. We propose three axiomatizations of the value. Among them, the first two use different variations of the recent population solidarity axiom, and the third one invokes a special reduced game consistency axiom. Due to the existence of a level structure, our axioms impose special restrictions on the players we focus. We show that our value can be characterized with these axioms and other variations of well-known axioms, such as efficiency, standardness, and quotient game property. Besides characterizing the value, we also connect it to the recent field of ordered tree cooperative games, wherein we find that the iterative value can be viewed as a special case of our value.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to discuss games on augmenting systems with a coalition structure, where all feasible subsets of the coalition structure and that of each union both form an augmenting system. A value named the augmenting symmetric Banzhaf coalitional value is introduced. Abstract:This paper generalizes the Shapley Value to a non-symmetric value for transferable utility games with two level coalition structure. Non-symmetry exists in players and in both two-level coalition structures. We present seven axioms to characterize this value and provide a property which show that our result consistent with Levy and McLean's weighted coalition structure value and E. Kalai and D. Abstract:This paper discusses the Harsanyi power solution for cooperative games in which cooperation among players is based on an arbitrary collection of feasible coalitions. We define the Harsanyi power solution as a value which distributes the Harsanyi dividends such that the dividend shares of players in each feasible coalition are proportional to the corresponding players’ participation index, (i.e., a power measure for players in the cooperation restrictions). When all coalitions can be formed in a game, the Harsanyi power solution coincides with the Shapley value. We provide two axiomatic characterizations for the Harsanyi power solution: one uses component efficiency and participation fairness, and the other uses efficiency and participation balanced contributions. Meanwhile, we show that the axioms of each axiomatization are logically independent. The study also shows that the Harsanyi power solution satisfies several other properties such as additivity and inessential player out. In addition, the Harsanyi power solution is the unique value that admits the $\lambda $-potential.

Abstract:We introduce a new class of games where cooperation among players is restricted by precedence constraints vis á vis the worth of a coalition depends on the order in which the players enter into the coalition. The idea combines two existing classes of cooperative games, namely the cooperative games under precedence constraints due to Faigle and Kern (Int J Game Theory 21(3):249–266, 1992) and the games in generalized characteristic function due to Nowak and Radzik (Games Econ Behav 6(1):150–161, 1994). A Shapley value for this special class of games is proposed, we call it the extended Shapley value to distinguish it for the existing one. Two axiomatic characterizations of the extended Shapley value are given: one uses Efficiency, Null player, and Linearity; the other uses Efficiency, Marginality, and Null game. Some interesting properties of the extended Shapley value are studied. Furthermore, two extensions of the extended Shapley value, called the extended probabilistic value and the extended order value, are proposed and characterized. Our study shows that the results in cooperative games under precedence constraints cannot have a trivial extension to the generalized constrained games and conversely.

Abstract:Abstract: The least square value for classical cooperative games provides a kind of least square optimization method of allocating benefits to the players, which minimizes the expected deviation between the payoffs and the worths of all coalitions. This paper constructs an optimization model for the least square value of cooperative games in which cooperation among players is based on a set system of feasible coalitions. The existence and uniqueness of the least square value are investigated on the basis of the convex programming theory. Meanwhile, an equivalent matrix equation for solving the least square value is obtained by using the Lagrange multiplier method, and then, based on this equation, the expression and several important properties of the value are discussed. Besides, the so-called symmetric least square value is proposed by employing a distribution rule that the inseparable players gain the same payoffs, and its properties are also studied. It is worth noting that the class of cooperative games with feasible coalitions has a unique least square value if and only if the rank of the set of feasible coalitions is full. These results can provide theoretical perspective and decision-making reference for distributing the worth of players when not all coalitons can be formed.

Our approach employs the "splitting" axiom, introduced by Casajus (2009) . Abstract:In this paper we introduce the $\Gamma$ value, a new value for cooperative games with transferable utility. We also provide an axiomatic characterization of the $\Gamma$ value based on a property concerning the so-called necessary players. A necessary players of a game is one without which the characteristic function is zero. We illustrate the performance of the $\Gamma$ value in a particular cost allocation problem that arises when the owners of the apartments in a building plan to install an elevator and share its installation cost; in the resulting example we compare the proposals of the $\Gamma$ value, the equal division value and the Shapley value in two different scenarios. In addition, we propose an extension of the $\Gamma$ value for cooperative games with transferable utility and with a coalition structure. Finally, we provide axiomatic characterizations of the coalitional $\Gamma$ value and of the Owen and Banzhaf-Owen values using alternative properties concerning necessary players.

Abstract:Coalitional games are mathematical models suited to analyze scenarios where players can collaborate by forming coalitions in order to obtain higher worths than by acting in isolation. A fundamental problem for coalitional games is to single out the most desirable outcomes in terms of appropriate notions of worth distributions, which are usually called solution concepts. Motivated by the fact that decisions taken by realistic players cannot involve unbounded resources, recent computer science literature reconsidered the definition of such concepts by advocating the relevance of assessing the amount of resources needed for their computation in terms of their computational complexity. By following this avenue of research, the paper provides a complete picture of the complexity issues arising with three prominent solution concepts for coalitional games with transferable utility, namely, the core, the kernel, and the bargaining set, whenever the game worth-function is represented in some reasonable compact form (otherwise, if the worths of all coalitions are explicitly listed, the input sizes are so large that complexity problems are---artificially---trivial). The starting investigation point is the setting of graph games, about which various open questions were stated in the literature. The paper gives an answer to these questions, and in addition provides new insights on the setting, by characterizing the computational complexity of the three concepts in some relevant generalizations and specializations.

A Coopetition Index for Coalitions in Simple Games

Abstract:In monotone simple games, larger coalitions typically wield more power, but do all players align their efforts effectively? Consider a voting scenario where a coalition forms, but needs more voters to pass a bill. The cohesion of the new group of voters hinges on whether all the new members can proficiently collaborate with the existing players to ensure the bill's passage or if subgroups form that pursue an independent alternative, thus generating antagonism among the new voters. This research introduces the coopetition index, ranging from -1 to 1, to measure agents' preferences for cooperation (near 1) or competition (near -1) with the remaining players. We also introduce the Banzhaf and Shapley-Owen coopetition indices, addressing limitations of previous indices. By applying our index to the apex game and symmetric majority games, we observe that cooperation and competition frequently balance each other out, leading to null values for the Shapley-Owen and Banzhaf coopetition indices. To distinguish balanced scenarios from those involving powerless coalitions, we define a decisiveness index that measures the extent of coalition involvement in negotiations.

Abstract:A cooperative game describes a situation in which a finite set of n players can generate certain profits by their cooperation. How to allocate the profits effectively among each player is very important and it will affect the stability and the sustainable development of their cooperation. In this paper, by analyzing the characteristics of the existing solutions to solve the profit allocation problem, some concepts such as cooperative unit, perfect matching pair are firstly defined, a construction method of matching order is proposed. Then a new solution called matching value is defined, its basic properties are discussed by a series of theorems. Finally, a matching value under total coalition structure is defined and its axiomatization is proved by three axioms.

Abstract:In this paper, a class of cooperative games with random payoffs is studied, a new solution which is called expected value based on players' contributions for the coalitions they belong to is introduced. Meanwhile, its uncertainty is de- fined, and their formulas are introduced. Then the prop- erties of expected value are studied, and some of them are proved in detail. In the end, an example is computed and the conclusion is made that players' expected value and its uncertainty decreases while the scale of game augments, which is similar to the Shapley value in classic cooperative game theory.

Abstract:Abstract A global (cooperative) game describes the utility that the whole set of players generates depending on the coalition structure they form. These games were introduced by Gilboa and Lehrer (Int J Game Theory 20:129–147, 1991) who proposed and characterized a generalization of the Shapley value. We introduce two families of point valued solutions that contain the Gilboa–Lehrer value. We characterize each family by means of reasonable properties, which are related to the ones used by Gilboa and Lehrer.

Abstract:As an important branch of game theory, coalitional game deals with situations that involve cooperation among the players. This paper deals with this topic further by incorporating the fuzzy payoff information. Based on the credibility theory, we introduce two decision criteria to define the preferences of players, which leads to two definitions of credibilistic cores—the solution of coalitional game with fuzzy transferable payoffs. Meanwhile, we give a sufficient and necessary condition to ensure non-emptiness of the credibilistic cores. Finally, an example is provided for illustrating the usefulness of the theory developed in this paper.

Abstract:In this paper, a new model to solve the social selfish coefficient $ \alpha \in \left[ {0,1} \right] $ for the $ \alpha $-egalitarian Shapley values and a new convex combinations of single-value in terms of a coalition forming weight coefficient $ \beta \in \left[ {0,1} \right] $, which is called the SCE value for cooperative games are presented. The efficiency, linearity, symmetry and $ \alpha $-dummy player property of the SCE value are proved. By proposing a procedural interpretation, we define the $ \beta $ as the coalition forming weight (or possibility) coefficient and find a new way of assigning the grand coalition profit among all players is coincided with the SCE value which verify the SCE value’s validity, applicability and superiority.
