Abstract:In this paper, we investigate positive solutions of the degenerate parabolic equation not in divergence form: ut=upΔu+auq−bur, subject to the null Dirichlet boundary condition. We at first discuss the existence and nonexistence of global solutions to the problem, and then study the large time behavior for the global solutions. When the positive source dominates the model, we prove that the global solutions uniformly tend to the positive steady state of the problem as t→∞. In particular, we establish the uniform asymptotic profiles for the decay solutions when the problem is governed by the nonlinear diffusion or absorption.

Abstract:In this article, we prove a general existence theorem for a class of nonlinear degenerate parabolichyperbolic equations. Since the regions of parabolicity and hyperbolicity are coupled in a way that depends on the solution itself, there is almost no hope of decoupling the regions and then taking into account the parabolic and the hyperbolic features separately. The existence of solutions can be obtained by finding the limit of solutions for the regularized equation of strictly parabolic type. We use the energy methods and vanishing viscosity methods to prove the local existence and uniqueness of solution.

Abstract:The present paper discusses the existence of weak solutions to the initial and boundary value problem of a class of degenerate parabolic equations in non-divergence form. The authors applied the method of parabolic regularization to prove the existence of weak solutions to the problem. By carefully analyzing the approximate solutions to the problem, the authors made a sequence of estimates to the solutions and proved the weak convergence of the approximation solution sequence and hence testified the existence of weak solutions.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate a class of doubly degenerate parabolic equations with periodic sources subject to homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. By means of the theory of Leray-Schauder degree, we establish the existence of non-trivial nonnegative periodic solutions. Abstract:In this paper, we deal with a class of non-classical parabolic equations which arise from some practical problems such as the identification of unknown parameters, free boundary problems, etc. One of the characteristics of this kind of equation is that the maximum principle is no longer valid. We will first study the local solvability for a general equation of this kind via an auxiliary problem and the Schauder fixed point principle. Then, some a priori estimates are derived to establish the global existence of the solution. Moreover, uniqueness and continuous dependence of the solution are proved. Finally, some examples are given to illustrate the applications of the theory.

Abstract:In this paper, the authors study an initial and boundary value problem to a system of evolution p-Laplacian equations coupled with general nonlinear terms. The authors use the method of regularization to construct a sequence of approximation solutions with the help of monotone iteration technique and hence obtain the existence of solutions to a regularized system of equations. Then the existence of solutions to the system of evolution p-Laplacian equations is obtained with the use of a standard limiting process. The uniqueness of the solution is also proven.

Abstract:This article deals with a class of nonlocal and degenerate quasilinear parabolic equation u t = f(u)(Δu + a∫Ω u(x, t)dx − u) with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. The local existence of positive classical solutions is proved by using the method of regularization. The global existence of positive solutions and blow-up criteria are also obtained. Furthermore, it is shown that, under certain conditions, the solutions have global blow-up property. When f(s) = s p , 0 < p ≤ 1, the blow-up rate estimates are also obtained.

Abstract:This paper deals with the blow-up properties of the positive solutions to a degenerate parabolic system with localized sources and nonlocal boundary conditions. We investigate the influence of the reaction terms, the weight functions, local terms and localized source on the blow-up properties. We will show that the weight functions play the substantial roles in determining whether the solutions will blow-up or not, and obtain the blow-up conditions and its blow-up rate estimate.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove the global existence of solutions to the initial boundary value problem of a viscous p-Laplace equation with nonlinear sources. The asymptotic behavior of solutions as the viscous coefficient k tends to zero is also investigated. In particular, we discuss the H1-Galerkin finite element method for our problem and establish the error estimates for two semi-discrete approximate schemes.
