The Use of Desktop Polarization X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry in the Marine Sediments Geochemical Analysis

Abstract:Most of geochemical components including heavy metals of marine sediments can be measured using a desktop polarization X-ray fluorescence spectrometer.This method has high detective ability for measuring elements Mg,Al,Si,P,S,Cl,K,Ca,Mn,Fe,Ni,Cu,Zn,Br,Rb,Sr,Y,Zr,Pb with low detection limit,small error,good stability and other characteristics.The study of the contents of heavy metals of the surface sediments in the northern Bohai Bay shows that the heavy metals and the grain size have good relations,according with the grain size effect rule".The heavy metals have higher contents near the Haihe river estuary,and lower contents by the Luanhe river mouth.Besides,the metals contents have a increase trend from coastal area to outside sea.
