Abstract:Objective:To compare the sealing properties of two kinds of resin cements by observing the records of coronal microleakage of fiber posts and the bonding interfaces of cements and root canal dentin.Methods:42 extracted mandibular premolars were divided into 6 groups in which 30 teeth were divided into 2 groups and were cemented by Panavia F and Paracore 5ml,respectively.After dyed and transparented, each tooth was observed under stereoscopic microscope and the dyeing scores were also recorded.Another 10 teeth were divided into 2 groups and were cemented by Panavia F and Paracore 5ml,respectively.Each tooth was sectioned into two parts, and the dentin-cement interface of each tooth was observed by scanning electron microscope. The rest 2 teeth were used as the positive control group and the negative control group, respectively. Results:Paracore 5ml caused less coronal microleakage of fiber post than Panavia F(P<0.01).Obvious hybrid layer could be seen on the dentin-cement interfaces in Panavia F and Paracore 5ml groups, however, resin tags and lateral adhesives were only observed in Paracore 5ml groups. Conclusion:The total-etch resin cement causes less coronal microleakage of fiber post than self-etch resin cement. The total-etch resin cement bounds tightly with dentin, and owns a more superior sealing property than self-etch resin cement.
