Logistic regression analysis of factors associated with hypertension after operation of aldosterone producing adenoma.

Abstract:Objective Factors associated with aldosterone producing adenoma(APA)were analyzed to investigate their relationship to postoperative hypertension.Methods A total of 76 patients who underwent surgery for aldosterone producing adenoma were collected.They were divided into two groups according to their postoperative blood pressure:normotensive and hypertensive groups.The clinical data before and after operation were compared in two groups.Logistic regression analysis was used to determine factors associated with postoperative hypertension.Results After operation,60.5% patients' blood pressure were recovered to normal,while 39.5% patients were still with hypertension,though the blood pressure was significantly decreased.Compared with postoperative normotensive group,patients who remained hypertension had older age and longer durations of hypertension before operation.The family history of hypertension was more frequent in hypertensive group.The renal function indexes,such as blood urea nitrogen,creatinine and creatinine clearance(Ccr),were significantly different in two groups(all P<0.05).Conclusion Logistic regression analysis reveals that Ccr,duration of hypertension and more than one direct relatives with hypertension are associated with the existence of hypertension after the operation.Duration of hypertension and preoperative renal damage associated with postoperative hypertension suggest that APA should be diagnosed and operated early.
