On the Hotels in the Han Dynasty(II)

Abstract:The hotels in the Han Dynasty had been greatly developed on the basis of those in the pre-Qin and Qin Dynasty.The hotels in the Han Dynasty are made up of official hotels and private hotels.The official hotels are divided into three kinds: di,chuanshe,and tingchuan.They consist of residences for high officials,which are located in the capital city and are used to treat princes and the leaders of minorities and foreign countries.They also offered services to different kinds of officials as well as the ordinary people occasionally.The three kinds of hotels are not the commercial public facilities,but they are closely related to the current administrative institution.The officials from different departments are in charge of these hotels,which formulated various management institutions.The management of hotels paves the ways for hotel institutions in feudal society.Private hotels in the Han Dynasty,though existing in the West Han Dynasty,have greatly developed during the East Han.They are commercial serving systems,which can feed the needs of people's outgoing.The increasing number of private hotels reflects the rapid development of floating population and the prospect of industry and business.
