Application Status and Countermeasure on the Development and Technology of Beef Cattle Industry in Shaanxi Province

Abstract:Beef cattle industry in Shaanxi province developed stably in 2012.The breeding mode is still mainly on the traditional small-scale farming with self-bred and professional fattening.The total amount of beef cattle on hand was about 1,975,000 in 2012 in Shaanxi province,and the amount of Qinchuan cattle was approximately 900,000,accounting for 45.6% of the whole.The slaughtering number was 838,000,which increased 10.5% than last year.However,the situation is still unoptimistic.Compared with 2011,the total amount of beef cattle on hand in most areas of Shaanxi province,especially in Guanzhong agricultural regions declined sharply,and the number of background female cattle decreased 21.7%.The traditional self-feeding and profesional fattening is still the primary breeding mode for beef cattle,adversely affecting the beef cattle industrial development.In that case,the governments should provide necessary political,scientific and technological supports to strengthen the management and reform of beef cattle standardized production,background cow allowance supply and fixed location slaughtering.
