Abstract:Objective To discuss the change of cancer related fatigue and other uncomfortable feelings before and after the radiation therapy in lung cancer patients and to provide guidance for effective nursing interventions in reducing patients' pain and improving patients' quality of life.Methods One hundred and forty-two lung cancer patients were questionnaired about cancer related fatigue and other discomfortable feelings before and after the radiation therapy.Results Lung cancer patients experienced significant changes of physical discomfort before and after the radiation therapy(Z=-2.10,P=0.036).Among those symptoms,loss of appetite,tiredness,backache,sore throat,thirsty,and radiation skin reaction have been abviously aggravated after the radiation therapy,the change of tiredness was significant.(t=-3.24,P=0.001).Conclusion Cancer specialty nurses should help the patients to recognize that the fatigue was related to cancer treatment and to provide effective nursing interventions reducing the discomfort and tiredness so as to improve quality of life.
