Abstract:OBJECTIVE: To study the principal entities and the medication of oral emergency patients so as to promote the rational use of drugs.METHODS: 2 166 oral emergency prescriptions were randomly selected from October to December in 2007 for the statistical analysis of the entities,the medication for the top 5 diseases in terms of prescription number.Defined daily dose(DDD) analytical method was used to analyze DDDs,consumption sum and DDC.RESULTS: The principal entities involved in the prescriptions were pulpitis,pericoronitis of the wisdom tooth,periapical periodontitis,periodontal inflammation,oral and maxillofacial soft tissue injury,etc,which were treated predominantly with antibacterials,local anesthetics and anti-inflammatory analgesics.CONCLUSION: The use of drugs for oral emergency patients was rational and in line with indication.The amount of drugs was also in accordance to the entity type and number of diseases.
