Relationship Between Personality and Happiness of Caders in Local Public Administrations

Abstract:Objective: The research was aimed at exploring personality and happiness of caders in local public administrations.Methods: A total of 855 officials in local governments completed happiness scale for local public administrations and Chinese personality scale(QZPS).Results: Males had higher scores of self-confidence and optimism;officials from east China had higher scores of harmonization,happiness in family,self-actualizing,self-confidence and optimism,children-growing and total scores in happiness than the officials from the west and middle China,but there were no differences between the officials from the west and middle China,in addition,the officials from east China had higher scores of social stability than the officials from west China.Staff members had higher scores of harmonization than the officials of the divisions and the sections,and lower scores of career and intimacy than officials of sections.The married had higher scores than the unmarried;the divorced had lower scores than the unmarried and the married.Stepwise regression analysis showed that ways of life,talents and extraversion could predict happiness positively,and behavior styles could negatively predict happiness significantly.Conclusion: The officials in local public administrations have different levels of happiness;personality traits could predict happiness significantly.
