Abstract:Objective To study the bioactive secondary metabolites of endophytic fungus strain J62 of mangrove plant Ceriops tagal.Methods The isolation and purification of the compounds were performed by column chromatography.Their structures were determined by comparison their physicochemical characters and spectral data with literatures,and their antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities were evaluated by paper disc diffusion and MTT methods,respectively.Results From the fermentation broth of endophytic fungus strain J62 of mangrove plant Ceriops tagal,ten compounds were isolated and identified as trans-cinnamicacid(1),3,4-dimethoxybenzyl alcohol(2),2-[(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)methyl]-4,5-dimethoxy-benzenemethanol(3),uridine(4),similin B(5),coibanol C(6),hymatoxin C(7),5,8-epidioxy-5α,8α-ergosta-6,22E-dien-3β-ol(8),stigmasta-7,22-diene-3β,5α,6α-triol(9),and crispin A(10).Compounds 1,2,and7 showed inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus,and compounds 1 and2 expressed inhibitory effect on Candida albicans.Compounds 2 and 5 showed inhibition effect on the cell line K-562 by MTT method.Conclusion Compounds 1~10 were isolated from the endophytic fungus strain J62 for the first time.The inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus of compound 7 and the cytotoxic activity against the cell line K-562 of compound 5 were reported for the first time.
