An Empirical Study of the Necessity of Government's Investment Increase in Education

Abstract:The important role of human capital in economic development is increasingly recognized.But for a long time,Chinese government has been low investment in human capital.In 2007,the public education expenditure accounts for only 2.85% of GDP,while a common dweller spent 4.56% of his income on education.In China today,the government should undertake the main responsibility for investment in education,increasing educational funding.Meanwhile,the government should balance it in various areas and give more priorities to the rural areas and underdeveloped areas so as to narrow the gap between urban and rural regions,between different areas and between different schools.And ultimately,an open,fair,and public financial system of education can be established to ensure the safety and allocation of our educational expenditure on a legal basis.
