Abstract:Objective To study the relationship between post-stroke depression (PSD) and lesion location. Methods 200 patients with stroke were assessed by Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) two weeks and three months after stroke. Locations of focal lesion were shown by CT scans or MRI. Results The rates of PSD had no significant difference among the patients with left, right and bilateral lesion in acute stage of stroke, as well as in convalescent stage. The rates of PSD had no significant difference between patients with frontal-lesion and those with posterior-lesion at the time of two weeks after stroke (χ2=1.9546,P>0.1) and had significant difference at the time of three months after stroke (χ2=6.04, P<0.05). Conclusions There was no preferable hemisphere on the occurrence of PSD. Frontal-lesion was related with PSD in convalescent stage of stroke, but was not in acute stage of stroke.
