Abstract:We study the local Gromov-Witten invariants of 𝒪 ( k )⊕ 𝒪 (− k −2) → ℙ 1 by localization techniques and the Mariño-Vafa formula, using suitable circle actions. They are identified with the equivariant Riemann-Roch indices of some power of the determinant of the tautological sheaves on the Hilbert schemes of points on the affine plane. We also compute the corresponding Gopakumar-Vafa invariants and make some conjectures about them.

Abstract:In this article we propose a definition of super Gromov-Witten invariants by postulating a torus localization property for the odd directions of the moduli spaces of super stable maps and super stable curves of genus zero. That is, we define super Gromov-Witten invariants as the integral over the pullback of homology classes along the evaluation maps divided by the equivariant Euler class of the normal bundle of the embedding of the moduli space of stable spin maps into the moduli space of super stable maps. This definition sidesteps the difficulties of defining a supergeometric intersection theory and works with classical intersection theory only. The properties of the normal bundles, known from the differential geometric construction of the moduli space of super stable maps, imply that super Gromov-Witten invariants satisfy a generalization of Kontsevich-Manin axioms and allow for the construction of a super small quantum cohomology ring. We describe a method to calculate super Gromov-Witten invariants of $\mathbb{P}^n$ of genus zero by a further geometric torus localization and give explicit numbers in degree one when dimension and number of marked points are small.

Abstract:We show that the isolated invariant branches globalize to algebraic curves, when we consider weak toric type complex hyperbolic foliations on projective toric ambient surfaces. To do it, we pass through a characterization of weak toric type foliations in terms of "non-degeneracy" conditions, associated to Newton polygons. We also give a description of the relationship between invariant algebraic curves and isolated invariant branches, valid for the case of toric type, by means of the following dichotomy. Either there is a rational first integral and there are no isolated invariant branches or we have only finitely many global invariant curves, all of them extending isolated invariant branches.

Abstract:We study open-closed orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants of 3-dimensional Calabi-Yau smooth toric Deligne-Mumford (DM) stacks (with possibly non-trivial generic stabilizers and semi-projective coarse moduli spaces) relative to Lagrangian branes of Aganagic-Vafa type. We present foundational materials of enumerative geometry of stable holomorphic maps from bordered orbifold Riemann surfaces to a 3-dimensional Calabi-Yau smooth toric DM stack with boundaries mapped into a Aganagic-Vafa brane. All genus open-closed Gromov-Witten invariants are defined by torus localization and depend on the choice of a framing which is an integer. We also provide another definition of all genus open-closed Gromov-Witten invariants based on algebraic relative orbifold Gromov-Witten theory; this generalizes the definition in Li-Liu-Liu-Zhou [arXiv:math/0408426] for smooth toric Calabi-Yau 3-folds. When the toric DM stack a toric Calabi-Yau 3-orbifold (i.e. when the generic stabilizer is trivial), we define generating functions of open-closed Gromov-Witten invariants or arbitrary genus g and number h of boundary circles; it takes values in the Chen-Ruan orbifold cohomology of the classifying space of a finite cyclic group of order m. We prove an open mirror theorem which relates the generating function of orbifold disk invariants to Abel-Jacobi maps of the mirror curve of the toric Calabi-Yau 3-orbifold. This generalizes a conjecture by Aganagic-Vafa [arXiv:hep-th/0012041] and Aganagic-Klemm-Vafa [arXiv:hep-th/0105045] (proved in full generality by the first and the second authors in [arXiv:1103.0693]) on the disk potential of a smooth semi-projective toric Calabi-Yau 3-fold.

Abstract:We prove a splitting formula that reconstructs the logarithmic Gromov- Witten invariants of simple normal crossing varieties from the punctured Gromov- Witten invariants of their irreducible components, under the assumption of the gluing strata being toric varieties. The formula is based on the punctured Gromov-Witten theory developed in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2009.07720" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2009.07720">arXiv:2009.07720</a>.

Abstract:The notion of a generic curved noncommutative torus is considered, which extends the notion of a conformally deformed noncommutative torus introduced by Connes and Tretkoff. For this manifold, an asymptotic expansion is established for the heat semigroup generated by the Laplace–Beltrami operator (in fact, for an arbitrary selfadjoint positive elliptic differential operator of order 2 2 ) and an algorithm is provided to compute the local invariants that arize as the coefficients in the expansion. This allows one to extend a series of previous results by several authors beyond the conformal case and/or for multidimensional tori.

Abstract:For any finite abelian group G, the equivariant Gromov-Witten invariants of C^r/G can be viewed as a certain kind of abelian Hurwitz-Hodge integrals. In this note, we use Tseng's orbifold quantum Riemann-Roch theorem to express this kind of abelian Hurwitz-Hodge integrals as a sum over Feynman graphs, where the weight of each graph is expressed in terms of descendant integrals over moduli spaces of stable curves and representations of G. This expression will play a crucial role in the proof of the remodeling conjecture (arXiv:0709.1453, arXiv:0807.0597) for affine toric Calabi-Yau 3-orbifolds in arXiv:1310.4818.
Computing Topological Invariants Using Fixed Points

Abstract:When a torus acts on a compact oriented manifold with isolated fixed points, the equivariant localization formula of Atiyah--Bott and Berline--Vergne converts the integral of an equivariantly closed form into a finite sum over the fixed points of the action, thus providing a powerful tool for computing integrals on a manifold. An integral can also be viewed as a pushforward map from a manifold to a point, and in this guise it is intimately related to the Gysin homomorphism. This article highlights two applications of the equivariant localization formula. We show how to use it to compute characteristic numbers of a homogeneous space and to derive a formula for the Gysin map of a fiber bundle.

Abstract:Let $S$ be a projective simply connected complex surface and $\mathcal{L}$ be a line bundle on $S$. We study the moduli space of stable compactly supported 2-dimensional sheaves on the total spaces of $\mathcal{L}$. The moduli space admits a $\mathbb{C}^*$-action induced by scaling the fibers of $\mathcal{L}$. We identify certain components of the fixed locus of the moduli space with the moduli space of torsion free sheaves and the nested Hilbert schemes on $S$. We define the localized Donaldson-Thomas invariants of $\mathcal{L}$ by virtual localization in the case that $\mathcal{L}$ twisted by the anti-canonical bundle of $S$ admits a nonzero global section. When $p_g(S)>0$, in combination with Mochizuki's formulas, we are able to express the localized DT invariants in terms of the invariants of the nested Hilbert schemes defined by the authors in [GSY17a], the Seiberg-Witten invariants of $S$, and the integrals over the products of Hilbert schemes of points on $S$. When $\mathcal{L}$ is the canonical bundle of $S$, the Vafa-Witten invariants defined recently by Tanaka-Thomas, can be extracted from these localized DT invariants. VW invariants are expected to have modular properties as predicted by S-duality.

Abstract:We show that the Virasoro conjecture in Gromov–Witten theory holds for the the total space of a toric bundle if and only if it holds for the base B. The main steps are: (i) We establish a localization formula that expresses Gromov–Witten invariants of E, equivariant with respect to the fiberwise torus action in terms of genus-zero invariants of the toric fiber and all-genus invariants of B, and (ii) we pass to the nonequivariant limit in this formula, using Brown's mirror theorem for toric bundles.

Abstract:Given a smooth projective variety $X$ and a smooth nef divisor $D$, we identify genus zero relative Gromov--Witten invariants of $(X,D)$ with $(n+1)$ relative markings with genus zero relative/orbifold Gromov--Witten invariants of a $\mathbb P^1$-bundle $P:=\mathbb P(\mathcal O_X(-D)\oplus \mathcal O_X)$ with $n$ relative markings. This is a generalization of the local-relative correspondence beyond maximal contacts. Repeating this process, we identify genus zero relative Gromov--Witten invariants with genus zero absolute Gromov--Witten invariants of toric bundles. We also present how this correspondence can be used to compute genus zero two-point relative Gromov--Witten invariants.

Locally Trivial Deformations of Toric Varieties

Abstract:We study locally trivial deformations of toric varieties from a combinatorial point of view. For any fan $\Sigma$, we construct a deformation functor $\mathrm{Def}_\Sigma$ by considering Čech zero-cochains on certain simplicial complexes. We show that under appropriate hypotheses, $\mathrm{Def}_\Sigma$ is isomorphic to $\mathrm{Def}'_{X_\Sigma}$, the functor of locally trivial deformations for the toric variety $X_\Sigma$ associated to $\Sigma$. In particular, for any complete toric variety $X$ that is smooth in codimension $2$ and $\mathbb{Q}$-factorial in codimension $3$, there exists a fan $\Sigma$ such that $\mathrm{Def}_\Sigma$ is isomorphic to $\mathrm{Def}_X$, the functor of deformations of $X$. We apply these results to give a new criterion for a smooth complete toric variety to have unobstructed deformations, and to compute formulas for higher order obstructions, generalizing a formula of Ilten and Turo for the cup product. We use the functor $\mathrm{Def}_\Sigma$ to explicitly compute the deformation spaces for a number of toric varieties, and provide examples exhibiting previously unobserved phenomena. In particular, we classify exactly which toric threefolds arising as iterated $\mathbb{P}^1$-bundles have unobstructed deformation space.

Valuative invariants for linearized line bundles on a spherical variety

Abstract:We give formulas for various valuative invariants of linearized ample line bundles on a projective spherical variety. Then we show how to use these formulas to study $g$-solitons on a Fano spherical variety. As a corollary, we show that for a Fano horospherical manifold $X$, the corresponding cone $(K_{X})^{\times}$ always admits a Calabi-Yau cone metric.

Abstract:Given a closed symplectic manifold X , we construct Gromov-Witten-type invariants valued both in (complex) K -theory and in any complex-oriented cohomology theory which is K p ( n )-local for some Morava K -theory K p ( n ). We show that these invariants satisfy a version of the Kontsevich-Manin axioms, extending Givental and Lee's work for the quantum K -theory of complex projective algebraic varieties. In particular, we prove a Gromov-Witten type splitting axiom, and hence define quantum K -theory and quantum -theory as commutative deformations of the corresponding (generalised) cohomology rings of X ; the definition of the quantum product involves the formal group of the underlying cohomology theory. The key geometric input of these results is a construction of global Kuranishi charts for moduli spaces of stable maps of arbitrary genus to X . On the algebraic side, in order to establish a common framework covering both ordinary K -theory and K p ( n )-local theories, we introduce a formalism of 'counting theories' for enumerative invariants on a category of global Kuranishi charts.

Abstract:Starting from a torus knot $\mathcal{K}$ in the lens space $L(p,-1)$, we construct a Lagrangian sub-manifold $L_{\mathcal{K}}$ in $\mathcal{X}=\big(\mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^1}(-1)\oplus \mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^1}(-1)\big)/\mathbb{Z}_p$ under the conifold transition. We prove a mirror theorem which relates the all genus open-closed Gromov-Witten invariants of $(\mathcal{X},L_{\mathcal{K}})$ to the topological recursion on the B-model spectral curve. This verifies a conjecture in \cite{Bor-Bri} in the case of lens space.
