Abstract:OBJECTIVE To understand knowledge,attitudes and practice(KAP) of childhood immunization among women who have a child(children)under 7 years old in Qinghai Province. METHODS A total of 8 villages,4 from farming and 4 from pasturing township respectively,in Gonghe County of Qinghai Province were selected to conduct needs assessment.208 mothers were surveyed with structured questionnaires. FGDs were conducted with caretakers of children. RESULTS The childrens mothers had low educational level and were lack of knowledge of childhood immunization. Mothers in pasture area had less knowledge of childhood immunization than those in agrcultural area,while they almost all had a positive attitude towards childhood immunization.Many childrens mothers got immunization with compliance,but few of them did on their own initiative.Their knowledge of childhood immunization was mainly from village doctors. CONCLUSION It is necessary and impendency in surveyed area of Qinghai Province to develop Information Education and Communication (IEC) strategies on childhood immunization.
