Abstract:With the gradual development of the new rural construction, and the continuous improvement of the rural per capita living space, sustainable development of the rural living environment is becoming an increasingly urgent task. This paper selected three different terrain villages in the rural area of Hangzhou as a study object, which located in the Middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River. Firstly, the investigation, collection and analysis on the building status, energy data and residents' subjective feeling of the three villages had been done through basic research and sampling questionnaire. Secondly, it selected two typical housing in each village, separately carried on the measurement of the building physical environment and computer quantitative simulation of the ventilation, lighting, and energy consumption, along with the comprehensive evaluation with the simulation results. Finally, the major existing problems of the living environment in the rural areas have been found, according to which some operable implementation strategy and policy Suggestions have been put forward.

Abstract:There are many rural building in China,most of them have high energy consumption without good energy saving design.The investigation of energy consumption in hot summer and cold winter regions is less than cold winter regions.Based on this current situation,questionnaires are delivered to three typical village.It is used to show the living environment and energy consumption in Hangzhou.Computer simulation and experiment are used to evaluate the living environment.Proper measure should be taken to improve the living environment of new countryside in Hangzhou.Furthermore,the achievement of the research will be beneficial to the development of Chinese new country construction.

Abstract:In order to study the design strategy for rural green building which decrease energy consume and improve the environment quality,the rural buildings in Baisui Fang,Fengshui Town,Tonglu Xian,Zhejiang was especially selected as the research object.Based on the site investigation,and the statistics of questionnaires with the help of spss,living conditions & working-resting styles are analyzed in this paper.According to topography,climate,a design combined with local rural feature and energy-saving measures is put forward.With the verification of the software by ecotect sunshine,pkpm energy-saving,this design is proved to save energy by 78.6%,and be more suitable for living.

Abstract:Landscape design for a green community should be favorable for the ambient ecological environment and for enhancement of both the local climate of a residential area and the environmental quality of life. This paper presents optimization methods for plant landscape design that take account of results of comparisons of noise reduction effects, heat island temperature decreases and effects on ventilation. These methods are based on different plant configurations and various luminous environments, such as exterior sunshine and shaded areas after the simulation of exterior luminous, acoustic and thermal environments of a residential area using the analytic software ECOTECT, CADNA/A, and PHEONICS. Three different types of residential buildings are simulated including a faculty apartment in the Xixi Campus of Zhejiang University, the Huaqing Villa and the Gangwan Jiayuan faculty apartment of Zhejiang University, China, based on green building design theory. In addition, the methods and process flow of landscape design of green residential areas are also described for the improvement of the exterior physical living environment.

Abstract:Apart from being a residential place, the village in the scenic area is also part of the scenery.Consequently, it substantially differs from ordinary villages in spatial organization, economic structure, social relation, etc.By examining Longjing Village which is located in the West Lake Scenic Area in Hangzhou, this paper tends to analyze the evolution features in terms of land use, construction space, transport facilities, and social network.The paper also summarizes the contradictions between "village" and "scenery", and proposes the strategies that are aimed at the re-harmonization of "village" and "scenery", in the hope of facilitating the coordinated spatial development of the village and the West Lake Scenic Area and providing reference for the preservation and development of other residential communities in scenic areas.

Abstract:Because of several volcanic eruptions happened in ancient times, a unique geological landscape was formed in Yangshan area, with the earth’s surface wholly covered with volcanic rocks. At the same time, this place is also famous for unique volcanic villages which are built mostly with the rocks. There are many ancient villages locates in this area, which are characteristic and well kept. Some of them have three or four hundred years history. By adapting to the geographical environment, to local customs, and meeting the survival needs,these ancient villages and residential buildings show amazing skill and wisdom to achieve a harmonious coexistence between human and nature, The ancient residents there built their villages according to the local conditions, using local materials and keeping an environmental awareness. Even today, it is still worth learning for eco-residential design. Based on the research on the site, the layout, the space features and architectural features of Yangshan ancient villages, the paper analyses the ecological idea and technical experience which made traditional villages adapt with both nature environment and social environment, briefly summarizes the guiding significance of the vernacular housing for the contemporary eco-residential design,and puts forward the problems faced by them in the development of a new era.

Abstract:The article analyzed two kinds of Tibetan dwellings in ShangriLa Yunnan as cases. The one located at Hongpo Jiantan, and the other at Yuejin, Dongwang. The two regions have different environment, one is high and cold, the other is in the dry valley. Tibetan use ecological low-tech strategy for their houses to fit the regionality. The study includes three factors, regional environment, architectural technology, and spatial logic system. It discusses the materials, structure, space, religion about the dwellings, to demonstrate the ecological low-tech strategy of Tibetan dwellings in Yunnan.
A comparative investigation on sustainable strategies of vernacular buildings and modern buildings in southwest China

Abstract:Vernacular architecture results from long-term growth with strong regionalism and passive methods responding to climate. Its sustainable design strategies are widely recognized as passive and effective solutions to the field of building energy efficiency. This research is proposed to comparatively investigate sustainable design strategies and evaluate environmental performance of vernacular buildings and modern buildings in the South-west China. We conducted an in-depth field investigation including questionnaires on 50 selected traditional buildings and two series of continued measurements (on April and Auguest) on 6 selected representative buildings in Tongzi, Chongqing. This paper focuses on the comparative analysis of thermal performance in vernacular dwellings and modern dwellings. The results reveal that certain efficient and effective passive design strategies exist in the vernacular buildings in South-west area of China.

Abstract:Modern villa location and layout should primarily focus on the factors of environment and district planning. The author believes in this paper that one should follow 4 principles when deciding the villa location, namely, the advocation of nature, the adaption to the environment, and the selection of places with free wind,upper river,no pollution, and fine traffic condition. What is more, to choose the best place for a villa in different regions, one should take particular factors of the certain region into consideration. Meanwhile, based on the theories of zoning analysis, this paper demonstrates analysis of some typical cases of villa location.

Abstract:In the context of the Chinese rural revitalization strategy, the unique residential characteristics of local vernacular dwellings formed by profound historical and cultural accumulation, climate characteristics, and residential lifestyle have undergone profound change in the gully regions of the Loess Plateau. Accordingly, the contradictions of traditional vernacular dwelling protection, increasing living requirements, and ecological protection have intensified. In this paper, with the aim of optimizing courtyard layout for vernacular dwellings, the thermal performance and regional adaptability of different courtyard layouts were analyzed using Ladybug and Honeybee tools. According to the thermal simulation within the courtyard, the current optimal layout type was determined, and then, several ecological optimization designs were proposed for the further improvement of it. The results revealed that the improved vernacular dwelling model has better regional adaptability, which corresponds to the local living culture and living habits, saves land resources, and provides a better thermal comfort performance. This research not only has a positive function for the protection of local architectural culture, but also plays an essential role in improving residents’ living comfort and living standards. We hope that the research results are meaningful and can be used as a reference for future rural construction in the Loess Plateau.

Abstract:Abstract Based on the analysis of thermal environmental data of Jiangtou Village, a traditional settlement in northern Guangxi, this paper proposes that energy saving for planning is an important guide for building group design. In view of heat insulation and heat protection requirements in the summer, natural factors such as mountain, water body and terrain, as well as artificial factors such as roadway, yard and patio are analyzed respectively, which are important planning elements of energy saving. It summarizes the design methods of building group planning and energy saving, and provides ideas and theoretical basis for village reconstruction and architectural creation in northern Guangxi.
