Antioxidant activity of alcohol extraction from Premna hainanensia

Abstract:Objective To study the antioxidant potential of alcohol extraction from the root,stem and leaf of Premna hainanensia by studying absorption spectrum of DPPH reaction system.Methods The condition was drawn as follows,DPPH reaction system was 5 ml of 6.5 ×10-5 mol/L DPPH + 1 ml of sample solution with the reaction time of 30 min.The relation between DPPH radical scavenging rate and the concentration of alcohol extraction were studied,and IC50(the value of antioxidant concentration for scavenging half of DPPH radical) was used as the index to evaluate scavenging capacity.Results The determining IC50 values were as follows: IC50(root) =2.315×10-3 g/mL,IC50(stem) = 2.440×10-3g/mL,and IC50(leaf) = 1.004 ×10-3g/mL.conclusion Alcohol extraction from P.hainanensia can be used as natural antioxidant.
