Abstract:Twelve kinds of cultural conditions whose soil salinities were different were simulated by mixing isometric and various-concentration Hoagland solutions with equal-mass air-dry soil, and pot experiments with pakchoi were carried out to study the effects of soil salinity on seed germination and seedling growth of pakchoi. The results showed that when the soil salinity was over 3 g/kg,the seed germination index gradually decreased with the soil salinity rising, and there was a significant negative correlation between the seed germination index and the soil salinity. The fresh seedling weight, plant height and root length also decreased with the soil salinity rising. When the soil salinity was over 6 g/kg,the seed germination rate started to decrease and the seedling growth was severely inhibited;and when the soil salinity was over 10 g/kg,the seeds rarely germinated.
