Transcription Factor Specifidty Protein 1: a New Biomarker for Pancreatic Cancer Therapy

Abstract:Pancreatic adenocarcinoma is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in developed countries and regions. The incidence of pancreatic cancer increases year by year in China. Sp1 (specificity protein 1) is a sequence-specific DNA binding protein, which is important in the growth, differentiation and metastasis of tumor cells, as well as the tumor angiogenesis. Recent studies have shown that Sp1 is also important in the development and progression of pancreatic cancer. Sp1 may be a new biomarker which can identify the pancreatic cancer with aggressive clinical behavior, and it may be a novel target for pancreatic cancer therapy.
