Abstract:It is known from [17] that the solvability of the mean field equation Delta u + e(u) = 8n pi delta(0) with n is an element of N->= 1 on a flat torus E-tau essentially depends on the geometry of E-tau. A conjecture is the non-existence of solutions for this equation if E(tau )is a rectangular torus, which was proved for n = 1 in [17]. For any n is an element of N->= 2, this conjecture seems challenging from the viewpoint of PDE theory. In this paper, we prove this conjecture for n = 2 (i.e. at critical parameter 16 pi).

Abstract:Consider the equations of Navier–Stokes in $\mathbb{R}^3$ in the rotational setting, i.e., with Coriolis force. It is shown that this set of equations admits a unique, global mild solution provided the initial data is small with respect to the norm of the Fourier–Besov space $FB^{{2-3}/p}_{p,r}(\mathbb{R}^3)$, where $p\; \in \; (1,\infty]\; \mathrm{and}\; r\;\in [1,\infty]$. In the two-dimensional setting, a unique, global mild solution to this set of equations exists for non-small initial data $u_{0} \; \in \;L^p_{\sigma}(\mathbb{R}^2)\;\mathrm{for}\;p \;\in\;[2,\infty).$
\alpha'-Expansion of Open String Disk Integrals via Mellin Transformations

Abstract:Open string disk integrals are represented as contour integrals of a product of Beta functions using Mellin transformations. This makes the mathematical problem of computing the α′-expansion around the field-theory limit similar to that of the ϵ-expansion in Feynman loop integrals around the four-dimensional limit. More explicitly, the formula in Mellin space obtained directly from the standard Koba–Nielsen-like representation is valid in a region of values of α′ that does not include α′=0. Analytic continuation is therefore needed since contours are pinched by poles as α′→0. Deforming contours that get pinched by poles generates a set of (n−3)! multi-dimensional residues left behind which contain all the field theory information. Some analogies between the field theory formulas obtained by this method and those derived recently from using the scattering equations are commented at the end.

Abstract:Let Omega be a bounded domain in R-2 with smooth boundary and 0 is an element of (Omega) over bar, we study the Neumann problem for the Henon equation-Delta u + u - vertical bar x vertical bar(2 alpha)u(p), u > 0 in Omega,partial derivative u/partial derivative v - 0 on partial derivative Omega,where v denotes the outer unit normal vector to asz, 1 < alpha is not an element of NU {0} and p is a large exponent. In a constructive way, we show that, as p approaches +infinity, such a problem has a family of positive solutions with arbitrarily many interior and boundary spikes involving the origin. The same techniques lead also to a more general result on Henon-type weights.
Stability in determination of states for the mean field game equations

Abstract:We consider solutions satisfying the Neumann zero boundary condition and a linearized mean field game system in $\Omega \times (0,T)$, where $\Omega$ is a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^d$ and $(0,T)$ is the time interval. We prove two kinds of stability results in determining the solutions. The first is Hölder stability in time interval $(\epsilon, T)$ with arbitrarily fixed $\epsilon>0$ by data of solutions in $\Omega \times \{T\}$. The second is the Lipschitz stability in $\Omega \times (\epsilon, T-\epsilon)$ by data of solutions in arbitrarily given subdomain of $\Omega$ over $(0,T)$.

Abstract:A conjecture about the mean field equation $Delta u+e^{u}=8npi delta_{0}$ on a flat torus $E_{tau}$ is the non-existence of solutions if $tauin imathbb{R}^{+}$. For any $nin mathbb{N}_{geq 2}$, this conjecture seems very challenging from the viewpoint of PDE theory. In order to solve this conjecture, a premodular form $Z_{r,s}^{(n)}(tau)$ was introduced by Wang and the third author cite{CLW2}, and is used to give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions. In this paper, we succeed to prove the conjecture for $n=2$ (i.e. at critical parameter $16pi$). In turn, we could apply this non-existence result to obtain the structure of zeros of the premodular form $Z_{r,s}^{(2)}% (tau)$. As a consequence, we obtain the existence of solutions for $n=2$ if $tau=frac{1}{2}+ib$ and $bu003eb^{ast}$ for some $b^{ast}in(frac{sqrt{3}}{2},frac{6}{5})$.

On Mean Field Games in Infinite Dimension

Abstract:We study a Mean Field Games (MFG) system in a real, separable infinite dimensional Hilbert space. The system consists of a second order parabolic type equation, called Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation in the paper, coupled with a nonlinear Fokker-Planck (FP) equation. Both equations contain a Kolmogorov operator. Solutions to the HJB equation are interpreted in the mild solution sense and solutions to the FP equation are interpreted in an appropriate weak sense. We prove well-posedness of the considered MFG system under certain conditions. The existence of a solution to the MFG system is proved using Tikhonov's fixed point theorem in a proper space. Uniqueness of solutions is obtained under typical separability and Lasry-Lions type monotonicity conditions.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of solutions to a type of super-Liouville equation on the compact Riemannian surface $M$ with boundary and with its Euler characteristic $\chi(M)<0$. The boundary condition couples a Neumann condition for functions and a chirality boundary condition for spinors. Due to the generality of the equation, we introduce a weighted Dirac operator based on the solution to a related Liouville equation. Then we construct a Nehari manifold according to the spectral decomposition of the weighted Dirac operator, and use minimax theory on this Nehari manifold to show the existence of the non-trivial solutions.

Stability conditions for mean-field limiting vorticities of the Ginzburg-Landau equations in 2D

Abstract:We analyse the limit of stable solutions to the Ginzburg-Landau (GL) equations when $\varepsilon$, the inverse of the GL parameter, goes to zero and in a regime where the applied magnetic field is of order $|\log \varepsilon |$ whereas the total energy is of order $|\log \varepsilon|^2$. In order to do that we pass to the limit in the second inner variation of the GL energy. The main difficulty is to understand the convergence of quadratic terms involving derivatives of functions converging only weakly in $H^1$. We use an assumption of convergence of energies, the limiting criticality conditions obtained by Sandier-Serfaty by passing to the limit in the first inner variation and properties of limiting vorticities to find the limit of all the desired quadratic terms. At last we investigate the limiting stability condition we have obtained. In the case with magnetic field we study an example of an admissible limiting vorticity supported on a line in a square $\Omega=(-L,L)^2$ and show that if $L$ is small enough this vorticiy satisfies the limiting stability condition whereas when $L$ is large enough it stops verifying that condition. In the case without magnetic field we use a result of Iwaniec-Onninen to prove that every measure in $H^{-1}(\Omega)$ satisfying the first order limiting criticality condition also verifies the second order limiting stability condition.

Abstract:Let $X$be a complex hyperelliptic curve of genus two equipped with the canonical metric $ds^2$. We study mean field equations on complex hyperelliptic curves and show that the Gaussian curvature function of $(X,ds^2)$ determines an explicit solution to a mean field equation.

Abstract:We provide a new existence result for abstract nonlinear operator systems in normed spaces, by means of topological methods. The solution is located within the product of annular regions and conical shells. The theoretical result possesses a wide range of applicability, which, for concreteness, we illustrate in the context of systems of nonlinear Poisson equations subject to homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. For the latter problem we obtain existence and localization of solutions having all components nontrivial. This is also illustrated with an explicit example in which we also furnish a numerically approximated solution, consistent with the theoretical results.

A complementary result on a singular mean field equation with a sign-changing potential function

Abstract:In this note, we study the singular mean field equation defined on a Riemann surface with a sign-changing potential function. We prove if some singular sources happen to be placed on the zero-level curve of the potential function, a priori estimate can still be obtained. As a consequence of this estimate, existence and multiplicity results can still be obtained based on the topology of the manifold.

Abstract:We study solutions of $\tfrac12 (-i\nabla - A(x))^2f=\lambda f$ on domains $\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^2$ with Dirichlet boundary conditions and prove exponential decay estimates in terms of an Agmon type distance to a classically allowed region. This metric depends only on the eigenvalue and associated magnetic field. In fact the main quantity in the weight for this distance function can be interpreted as an `average magnetic flux' of the magnetic field along all domains whose boundary is the closed curved formed by joing the `minimal path' to another random path. Our estimates are based on an analysis of the associated heat kernel using the Feynman-Kac-Itó formula.

Abstract:We consider Mckean-Vlasov type stochastic differential equations with multiplicative noise arising from the random vortex method. Such an equation can be viewed as the mean-field limit of interacting particle systems with singular interacting kernels such as the Biot-Savart kernel. A new estimate for the transition probability density of diffusion processes will be formulated to handle the singularity of the interacting kernel. The existence and uniqueness of the weak solution of such SDEs will be established as the main result.

Abstract:We give an intrinsic meaning to the Hamilton-Jacobi equation arising from mean-field spin glass models in the viscosity sense, and establish the corresponding well-posedness. Originally defined on the set of monotone probability measures, these equations can be interpreted, via an isometry, to be defined on an infinite-dimensional closed convex cone with an empty interior in a Hilbert space. We prove the comparison principle, and the convergence of finite-dimensional approximations furnishing the existence of solutions. Under additional convexity conditions, we show that the solution can be represented by a version of the Hopf-Lax formula, or the Hopf formula on cones. Previously, two notions of solutions were considered, one defined directly as the Hopf-Lax formula, and another as limits of finite-dimensional approximations. They have been proven to describe the limit free energy in a wide class of mean-field spin glass models. This work shows that these two kinds of solutions are viscosity solutions.
