An Analysis of the Survey of Root Caries in the Population from 35 to 44 and 65 to 74 Years Old in Liaoning

Abstract:Objective To assess the current state and distribution of root caries in the population from 35 to 44 and 65 to 74 years old in Liaoning and to find the effective preventive measures.Methods According to the standards of thet hird national oral health sampling survey,1584 people,from 35 to 44 years old and 65 to 74 years old,were examined.T he results were processed using SPSS 13.0 to determine the prevalence and to make comparison.Results The prevalence、mean numbers and treatment rates of two groups were 5.56% and 18.69%、0.07 and 0.36、4.55% and 2.70% respectively.There were significant differences between two groups in the prevalence、mean numbers and treatment rates( P0.01).Urban and rural areas had no significant differences of root caries(P0.05);there were no significant differences between males and females(P0.05).Conclusion Root caries is common in the population from 35 to 44 and 65 to 74.To increase the treatment rates of dental root caries,it is evident to improve the oral health awareness and to give publicity to communities and rural areas.
