Abstract:Embryonic stem cells(ES cells)are unique cell populations with the ability of self-renewal,unlimited proliferation,multipotent differentiation and maintaining their undifferentiated state.Direct differentiation of ES cells is an efficient method of cell replacement to purge residual teratoma-forming cells.Before ES cells can be taken to clinical application,several obstacles need to be overcome including animal product contamination,heterogeneity,immunogenicity, social and ethical concerns.The isolation and differentiation of human ES cell lines can provide us a new insight into regenerative medicine.
