Synthesis of IPN Superabsorbent with Interpenetrating Polymer Networks

Abstract:A series of interpenetrating polymer network superabsorbents(IPN),copolymer of poly(vinyl acohol) and partly neutralized poly(acrylic acid-co-acrylamide),were synthesized by solution polymerization.The influences of the concentration of monomer and the amount of cross link agent on swelling capacity of IPN were investigated by orthogonal experiment.PVA can enhance the swelling capacity of IPN.The swelling capacities of IPN for distilled water and 0.9% NaCl aqueous solution are 1 481 g·g-1 and 130 g·g-1,respectively.
