Abstract:A chemiluminescence (CL) method for the determination of colchicine is proposed, which is based on the enhancement effect of formaldehyde on the weak emission produced by potassium permanganate oxidation on colchicine in acidic media. The optimum conditions for this chemiluminescent reaction are studied in detail by a flow injection system. Under optimum conditions, the method allows the measurement of colchicine in the range of 1.0×10-7 mol/L～6.0×10-5 mol/L with a detection limit (3σ) of 3.0×10-8 mol/L. The relative standard deviation is 1.9 % (n=11) for 1.0×10-6 mol/L colchicine standard. The proposed method has been applied to the determination of colchicine in pharmaceutical formulation and the analysis results agree well with those from official method.
