Abstract:We establish several new fractal and number theoretical phenomena connected with expansions which are generated by infinite linear iterated function systems. First of all we show that the systems $\Phi$ of cylinders of generalized Lüroth expansions are, generally speaking, not faithful for the Hausdorff dimension calculation. Using Yuval Peres' approach, we prove sufficient conditions for the non-faithfulness of such families of cylinders. On the other hand, rather general sufficient conditions for the faithfulness of such covering systems are also found. As a corollary of our main results, we obtain the non-faithfullness of the family of cylinders generated by the classical Lüroth expansion. Possible infinite entropy of the stochastic vector $Q_\infty$ which determines the metric relations for partitions of the generalized Lüroth expansions, possible non-faithfulness of the family $\Phi(Q_\infty)$ and the absence of general formulae for the calculation of the Hausdorff dimension even for probability measures with independent identically distributed symbols of generalized Lüroth expansions are all facts that do not allow to apply usual probabilistic methods, as well as methods of dynamical systems to study fractal properties of corresponding subsets of non-normal numbers. Despite of the above mentioned difficulties, we develop new approach to the study of subsets of $Q_\infty$-essentially non-normal numbers and prove (without any additional restrictions on the stochastic vector $Q_{\infty}$) that this set is superfractal. This result answers the open problem mentioned in \cite{AKNT2} and completes the metric, dimensional and topological classification of real numbers via the asymptotic behaviour of frequencies their digits in the generalized Lüroth expansion.

Abstract:We have studied two generalized Frenkel-Kontorova (FK) models. In one of them the interatomic potential is changed from simple harmonic to Toda; in the other the external potential is changed from sinusoidal to nonanalytic. Their critical behaviors are found to be markedly different. In the Toda case, the local critical exponents are the same as those in the standard FK model. However, the global singularity spectrum and the generalized dimension depend on the anharmonicity parameter. In the nonanalytic FK model, the critical exponents are found to vary with the degree of inflection z for 2 less-than-or-equal-to z < 3, but remain the same for z greater-than-or-equal-to 3. The degree of inflection thus plays a role quite similar to that of dimensionality in phase transitions with z = 2 and 3 corresponding respectively to the lower and upper critical dimensions. For z > 3, a sequence of pinning and depinning transitions, reflecting the recurrence of Kolmogorov-Arnol'd-Moser tori, has also been observed.
Invariant Distributions of Partially Hyperbolic Systems: Fractal Graphs, Excessive Regularity, and Rigidity

Abstract:We introduce a novel approach linking fractal geometry to partially hyperbolic dynamics, revealing several new phenomena related to regularity jumps and rigidity. One key result demonstrates a sharp phase transition for partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms $f \in \mathrm{Diff}^\infty_{\mathrm{vol}}(\mathbb{T}^3)$ with a contracting center direction: $f$ is $C^\infty$-rigid if and only if both $E^s$ and $E^c$ exhibit Hölder exponents exceeding the expected threshold. Specifically, we prove: If the Hölder exponent of $E^s$ exceeds the expected value, then $E^s$ is $C^{1+}$ and $E^u \oplus E^s$ is jointly integrable. If the Hölder exponent of $E^c$ exceeds the expected value, then $W^c$ forms a $C^{1+}$ foliation. If $E^s$ (or $E^c$) does not exhibit excessive Hölder regularity, it must have a fractal graph. These and related results originate from a general non-fractal invariance principle: for a skew product $F$ over a partially hyperbolic system $f$, if $F$ expands fibers more weakly than $f$ along $W^u_f$ in the base, then for any $F$-invariant section, if $\Phi$ has no a fractal graph, then it is smooth along $W^u_f$ and holonomy-invariant. Motivated by these findings, we propose a new conjecture on the stable fractal or stable smooth behavior of invariant distributions in typical partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms.

Abstract:Fractal sets typically have very complex geometric structures, and a fundamental problem in fractal geometry is to characterize how “similar” different fractal sets are. The Lipschitz equivalence of fractal sets is often used to classify fractal sets that are geometrically similar. Interesting links between Lipschitz equivalence and algebraic properties of contraction ratios for self-similar sets have been uncovered and widely analyzed. However, with the exception of very few papers, the study of Lipschitz equivalence has largely focused on totally disconnected self-similar sets. For connected self-similar sets this problem becomes rather challenging, even for well known fractal models such as fractal squares. In this paper, we introduce geometric and topological methods to study the Lipschitz equivalence of connected fractal squares. In particular we completely characterize the Lipschitz equivalence of fractal squares of order 3 in which one or two squares are removed. We also discuss the Lipschitz equivalence of fractal squares of more general orders. Our paper is the first study of Lipschitz equivalence for nontrivial connected self-similar sets, and it raises also some interesting questions for the more general setting.

In this paper, we mainly make research on whether fractal characteristics of an object with a fractal curve shape will keep invariable under being subjected to horizontal linear stretching. For two continuous functions [math] and [math], it has been proven that the graph of [math] has the same fractal dimensions with the graph of [math] when [math] is a linear function. Some examples have also been provided to corroborate our theoretical results. This work may contribute to the dimensional theory of fractal curves and have practical application significance in physics.

Abstract:To generate exotic fractals, we investigate the construction of nonlinear iterated function system (IFS) using the complex mapping family [Formula: see text] ([Formula: see text]). A set of [Formula: see text]-values is chosen from the period-1 bulb of the Mandelbrot set, so that each mapping has an attracting fixed point in the dynamic plane. Computer experiments show that a set of arbitrarily chosen [Formula: see text]-values may not be able to generate a fractal. We prove a sufficient condition that if the [Formula: see text]-values are chosen from a specific region related to a circle in the period-1 bulb, the nonlinear IFS with such complex mappings is able to generate exotic fractal. Furthermore, if the set of [Formula: see text]-values possesses a specific symmetry in the Mandelbrot set, then the fractal also exhibits the same symmetry. We present a method of generating aesthetic fractals with [Formula: see text] or [Formula: see text] symmetry for [Formula: see text] and with [Formula: see text] or [Formula: see text] symmetry for [Formula: see text].

Unique normal form for a special case of an unsolved problem for the Takens–Bogdanov singularity is given. Abstract:In the paper, we suggest the Hausdorff vector calculus based on the Chen Hausdorff calculus for the first time. The Gauss–Ostrogradsky-like, Stokes-like, and Green-like theorems, and Green-like identities are obtained in the framework of the Hausdorff vector calculus. The formula is proposed as a mathematical tool to describe the real-world problems for the fractal power-law flow equations with the anomalous diffusion equation. A conjecture for the fractal power-law flow equations analogous to the Smale's 15th problem and one of Millennium Prize Problems for the Navier–Stokes equations is also addressed.

Abstract:We first generalize a classical iteration formula for one variable holomorphic mappings to a formula for higher dimensional holomorphic mappings. Then, as an application, we give a short and intuitive proof of a classical theorem, due to H. Poincaré, for the condition under which a singularity of a holomorphic vector field is an isochronous center.

Abstract:Let $F: [0, \infty) \to [0, \infty)$ be a strictly increasing $C^2$ function with $F(0)=0$. We unify the concepts of $F$-harmonic maps, minimal hypersurfaces, maximal spacelike hypersurfaces, and Yang-Mills Fields, and introduce $F$-Yang-Mills fields, $F$-degree, $F$-lower degree, and generalized Yang-Mills-Born-Infeld fields (with the plus sign or with the minus sign) on manifolds. When $F(t)=t, \frac 1p(2t)^{\frac p2}, \sqrt{1+2t} -1,$ and $1-\sqrt{1-2t},$ the $F$-Yang-Mills field becomes an ordinary Yang-Mills field, $p$-Yang-Mills field, a generalized Yang-Mills-Born-Infeld field with the plus sign, and a generalized Yang-Mills-Born-Infeld field with the minus sign on a manifold respectively. We also introduce the $E_{F,g}-$energy functional (resp. $F$-Yang-Mills functional) and derive the first variational formula of the $E_{F,g}-$energy functional (resp. $F$-Yang-Mills functional) with applications. In a more general frame, we use a unified method to study the stress-energy tensors that arise from calculating the rate of change of various functionals when the metric of the domain or base manifold is changed. These stress-energy tensors, linked to $F$-conservation laws yield monotonicity formulae. A "macroscopic" version of these monotonicity inequalities enables us to derive some Liouville type results and vanishing theorems for $p-$forms with values in vector bundles, and to investigate constant Dirichlet boundary value problems for 1-forms. In particular, we obtain Liouville theorems for $F-$harmonic maps (e.g. $p$-harmonic maps), and $F-$Yang-Mills fields (e.g. generalized Yang-Mills-Born-Infeld fields on manifolds). We also obtain generalized Chern type results for constant mean curvature type equations for $p-$forms on $\Bbb{R}^m$ and on manifolds $M$ with the global doubling property by a different approach. The case $p=0$ and $M=\mathbb{R}^m$ is due to Chern.

Abstract:Using the moving frame and invariants, any discrete curve in $\R^3$ could be uniquely identified by its centroaffine curvatures and torsions. In this paper, depending on the affine curvatures of the fractal curves, such as Koch curve and Hilbert curve, we can clearly describe their iterative regularities. Interestingly, by the affine curvatures, the fractal curves can be quantified and encoded accordingly to a sequence. Hence, it is more convenient for future reference. Given three starting points, we can directly generate the affine Koch curve and affine Hilbert curve at the step $n, \forall n\in \mathbb{Z}^+$. Certainly, if the initial three points are standard, the curve is the traditional Koch curve or Hilbert curve. By this method, the characteristic of some fractal curves which look like irregular could be quantified, and the regularities would become more obvious.

Abstract:Fractal geometries, characterized by self-similar patterns and non-integer dimensions, provide an intriguing platform for exploring topological phases of matter. In this work, we introduce a theoretical framework that leverages isospectral reduction to effectively simplify complex fractal structures, revealing the presence of topologically protected boundary and corner states. Our approach demonstrates that fractals can support topological phases, even in the absence of traditional driving mechanisms such as magnetic fields or spin-orbit coupling. The isospectral reduction not only elucidates the underlying topological features but also makes this framework broadly applicable to a variety of fractal systems. Furthermore, our findings suggest that these topological phases may naturally occur in materials with fractal structures found in nature. This work opens new avenues for designing fractal-based topological materials, advancing both theoretical understanding and experimental exploration of topology in complex, self-similar geometries.

Abstract:We study isochronous centers of two classes of planar systems of ordinary differential equations. For the first class which is the Liénard systems of the form ẋ=y−F(x), ẏ=−g(x) with a center at the origin, we prove that if g is isochronous (see Definition 1.1), then the center is isochronous if and only if F≡0. For the second class which is the Hamiltonian systems of the form ẋ=−g(y), ẏ=f(x) with a center at the origin, we prove that if f or g is isochronous, then the center is isochronous if and only if the other is also isochronous.

Abstract:Under the assumption that a self-similar measure defined by a one-dimensional iterated function system with overlaps satisfies a family of second-order self-similar identities introduced by Strichartz et al., we obtain a method to discretize the equation defining the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the corresponding fractal Laplacian. This allows us to obtain numerical solutions by using the finite element method. We also prove that the numerical eigenvalues and eigenfunctions converge to the true ones, and obtain estimates for the rates of convergence. We apply this scheme to the fractal Laplacians defined by the well-known infinite Bernoulli convolution associated with the golden ratio and the 3-fold convolution of the Cantor measure. The iterated function systems defining these measures do not satisfy the open set condition or the post-critically finite condition; we use second-order self-similar identities to analyze the measures.

Abstract:In this article, we manifest the existence of a new class of -fractal functions without endpoint conditions in the space of continuous functions. Furthermore, we add the existence of the same class in numerous spaces such as the Hölder space, the convex Lipschitz space, and the oscillation space. We also estimate the fractal dimensions of the graphs of the newly constructed -fractal functions adopting some function spaces and covering methods.

Abstract:Abstract The local structure of rotationally symmetric Finsler surfaces with vanishing flag curvature is completely determined in this paper. A geometric method for constructing such surfaces is introduced. The construction begins with a planar vector field X that depends on two functions of one variable. It is shown that the flow of X could be used to generate a generalized Finsler surface with zero flag curvature. Moreover, this generalized structure reduces to a regular Finsler metric if and only if X has an isochronous center. By relating X to a Liénard system, we obtain the isochronicity condition and discover numerous new examples of complete flat Finsler surfaces, depending on an odd function and an even function.

Abstract:In this paper, we define the notion of affine curvatures on a discrete planar curve. By the moving frame method, they are in fact the discrete Maurer–Cartan invariants. It shows that two curves with the same curvature sequences are affinely equivalent. Conditions for the curves with some obvious geometric properties are obtained and examples with constant curvatures are considered. On the other hand, by using the affine invariants and optimization methods, it becomes possible to collect the IFSs of some self-affine fractals with desired geometrical or topological properties inside a fixed area. In order to estimate their Hausdorff dimensions, GPUs can be used to accelerate parallel computing tasks. Furthermore, the method could be used to a much broader class.
