A Comparative Study of Questioning Strategies in English Teaching Between Normal Class and Ethnic Minority Class

Abstract:Questioning is one of the most important teaching methods in college English class.Students will have interest in lessons if teachers ask appropriate questions in class.Otherwise,they will lose interest in their study.A comparative study was made through questionnaires and classroom observations of different teachers teaching normal class and ethnic minority class on their application of planning strategy,questioning strategy,control strategy and assessment strategy.The results showed that the questioning strategies used by teachers of normal class and ethnic minority class are different.The differences are mainly reflected in teachers’choice of contents and words as well as their ways and orders of questioning.Teachers should pay more attention to their questioning strategies in class in order to promote English teaching in different classes.
