Abstract:ObjectiveTo explore the feasibility of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) of gallbladder in the diag- nosis and treatment of gallbladder polyps. MethodsThe endoscopic ultrasonography of gallbladder, which was constituted by our self-developed three-channel compact cholecystoscope and miniature ultrasonic probes, was used to implement gallbladder polyps-removing operations in 16 cases. The treatment was decided according to the ori- gin and nature of the polyps under EUS of gallbladder and, gallbladder was retained when polyps were benign while removed when they were malignant. Specimens were sent for pathological examination. ResultsOperations on all the 16 cases were successful and smooth without any complications. During the operation, 6 of them were found to be single polyp, and 10 were multiple polyps; 5 of them only had polyps and 11 of them had polyps with stones. One case was adenoma, 15 cases were not tumor, all the 16 cases had benign lesions, and the consistent rate between pathology and EUS was 100%. ConclusionsEUS of gallbladder is a new technique, it is of importance in making clear the morphology, structure and nature of gallbladder polyps as well as the changes of gallbladder wall at all lev- els and providing new platform for the diagnosis and treatment for polyps. It is a safe, effective and feasible new method for the treatment of gallbladder polyps
