Professor QIU Mo-yan’ experience in treating hemodialysis-related hypotension with Shengmai Injection and Capsule

Abstract:Hypotension during hemodialysis is the most common and bothersome complication of chronic hemodialysis. The demographics of those patients who experience hypotension during dialysis have not been previously identified exactly. According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory, the treatment of dialysis-related hypotension should base on TCM syndrome differentiation. During dialysis, patients are easy to get syndrome of deficiency of qi and yin, and Shengmai is herbal compound which can benefit qi and nourish yin. According to Prof. Qiu, to prevent and treat hemodialysis hypotension, routine therapy is required, and moreover Shengmai is effective depending on the TCM syndrome differentiation. Professor Qiu uses both of Shengmai Injection and Shengmai Capsule. Professor Qiu argues that, Shengmai Capsule is convenient and instant to take, and Shengmai Injection showes better and more stable effect. These two forms of Shengmai should be used dependent and uniquely to make a whole hemodialysis session, so that make a better life.
