Abstract:This study presents a novel vapor compression heat pump cycle in which an ejector associated with a subcooler is applied to enhance the heating performance for air-source heat pump water heater application. The heating coefficient of performance (COPh) and heating capacity of the novel cycle using the non-azeotropic mixture refrigerant R417A are theoretically investigated, for the ranges of evaporating temperature (−15 to 10°C) and condensing temperature (55–60°C). The theoretical results show that the COPh and volumetric heating capacity of the novel cycle are better than that of the conventional heat pump cycle. It is found that for the operating conditions considered, the maximum COPh and volumetric heating capacity can be improved by up to 1.62–6.92% and 15.20–37.32% over the conventional heat pump cycle, respectively. The performance characteristics of the novel cycle show its promise in air-source heat pump water heater applications.

Abstract:Abstract: With the improvement of people's living standards, water heaters almost into the various households. In the energy-saving emission reduction has become the trend of the times today, saving energy and reducing carbon emissions is the most fashionable way of life. Air source heat pump water heaters are increasingly being used in people's lives. It is well known that it has many advantages, safety, energy saving, comfort, environmental protection, but there are some factors that affect its development and promotion. This paper mainly discusses the development history of air source heat pump technology at home and abroad, working principle, working flow, turbo technology at present stage, efficient heat exchange, and the research status of air source heat pump technology, such as new type refrigerant and dual frequency compression frequency conversion, then it discusses the application of air source heat pump technology, has the advantage, and finally discusses its application and the existence of two major problems and suggestions for improvement. Abstract:A prototype transcritical carbon dioxide heat pump water heater was developed. Experimental study on performances of conventional transcritical carbon dioxide heat pump water heater system (TRHS),transcritical carbon dioxide heat pump water heater system with internal heat exchanger(TRHSI) and transcritical carbon dioxide heat pump water heater system with ejector and internal heat exchanger (TRHSEI) were made based on different hot water temperatures. The variation trends of heating coefficients of performance(COPh),heating capacities,compressor work and compression ratio at different hot water temperatures were analyzed. And the characteristics of internal heat exchanger and ejector were investigated. Experimental results indicate that heating coefficients of performance(COPh)of TRHSEI and TRHSI were improved by about 20%and 10% respectively when compared to COP,, of TRHS.

Abstract:Since air resource heat pump unit has so many advantages including no special cold and heat sources room, no cooling water system, reliable operation and little pollution, it is very suitable for countries lackage of water. Based on an actual project, this paper provides a technical and economic analysis on different cold and heat sources. The study shows that for most areas air resource heat pump unit is applicable to air conditioning system for both new buildings and rebuilt buildings, and it is a best choice.

Abstract:As a kind of natural fluid,carbon dioxide is an attractive alternative to the synthetic fluids in heat pump systems,for it is environmental benign and owns good thermal properties.The principle of carbon dioxide heat pump was described.The application of carbon dioxide heat pump water heaters and the current status of carbon dioxide heat pump technology at home and abroad were described,too.Then a comparative analysis was made for different brands of carbon dioxide heat pump water heaters.Finally,a comparative analysis of economic performance between carbon dioxide heat pump water heaters and water heaters with other heat sources was carried out by calculating the annual consumption costs.The results show that carbon dioxide heat pump water heaters have more advantages than other water heaters in both economic aspect and performance systems,so they have very large space for development.

The advances in the research on compressor development, alternative refrigerant technology for a compressor HPWH are separately summarized. The new study on frosting/defrosting of an air source heat pump water heater (ASHPWH) is also discussed. The trend of some new technologies of HPWH is analyzed.

Sustainable Energy Technologies and Assessments

Abstract:Heat pump becomes attractive for recirculated hot water heating in cold regions, whereas conventional configurations face difficulties in operation at low ambient temperatures. A novel single-stage air-source heat pump using eco-friendly CO2/HC is proposed in this paper. The novel heat pump is featured by independent regulation of operating parameters according to the change of ambient condition. Through parametric analyses, the positive effects of the design of branches in the novel heat pump are demonstrated for reducing irreversible losses. The underlying mechanism of the superiority of the novel heat pump is revealed that, the application of suitable eco-friendly CO2/HC and the optimization of operating parameters result in lower compression ratio and optimized irreversible loss in recuperator. Under supply/return water temperatures of 75 °C/50 °C and ambient temperatures ranging from −30 °C to 10 °C, better heating seasonal performance factor and higher volumetric heating capacity of the novel heat pump are obtained, compared with conventional heat pumps. With the application of low-GWP refrigerant and the achievement of high seasonal performance during wintertime, the novel heat pump in this paper exhibits great potential in sustainable development for heating technology in regards of reduction of energy consumption and pollutant emission.

Abstract:The technology of using a heat pump for space conditioning and domestic hot water heating in residences has been developed for half a century. The earlier air-to-water heat pumps and water-heating heat pumps suffered from drawbacks like high costs, unreliable operation, and inflexible applications. They were not well positioned in the market to attract customers. This paper introduces a novel air-conditioning product that can achieve the multi-functions with improved energy performance. The basic design principles and the laboratory test results are presented. The results showed that by incorporating a water heater in the outdoor unit of a split-type air-conditioner so that space cooling and water heating can take place simultaneously, the energy performance can be raised considerably.

Abstract:Heat pump has been regarded widely as a kind of energy-saving technique,and it can extract abundant second-class energy from ambience.Because of its convenience and economization,air-source heat pump is most expersively adopted in heat pumps.However,its usage is limited by ambience.With the decrease of outdoor temperature,the heat that is required increases.When outdoor temperature is low enough,the heat of air-source cannot satisfy the request.And with the increase of pressure rate of compressor,the heating COP decreases sharply,and the discharge temperature increases rapidly,which can make compressor dilapidate.Scholars have put forward many schemes to settle this problem.Several schemes are list and analyzed to improve the technique of air-source heat pump better.

Abstract:An integrated air source heat pump water heater with natural convection heat transfer evaporator and condenser was designed and fabricated. Experimental studies were carried out to get the variation of water heater performance with ambient temperature, the optimal working fluid charge and capillary length. The influence of the operation of heat pump on the indoor temperature was analyzed. The experimental results showed that the coefficient of performance (COP) of the heat pump water heater system is 2.83 under the standard test conditions. At an ambient temperature of 10 oC, it took about 450 min to raise the water temperature in the 150 L water tank from 10 oC to 55 oC and about 210 min from 30 oC to 55 oC. Frost was observed in the experiments and it melted as the evaporation temperature increased. In addition, obvious pressure loss and water condensation phenomena in the evaporator were analyzed. This study offers the theoretical and experimental reference for further application of this type heat pump water heater.

Abstract:Abstract The heat pump industry’s energy consumption as a percentage of total energy consumption is constantly increasing. Research on energy-saving and carbon-reducing technologies, and manufacturing high-efficiency units of heat pump with water-ground source has become the main trend of the current heat pump industry. With proposal of the national “dual-carbon” strategy goal, enhancing the energy efficiency of units of heat pump with water-ground source has become a key way to transform and upgrade the refrigeration and air conditioning industry. The aim of this study is to combine current studies on energy-saving and carbon-reducing technologies for units of heat pump with water-ground source and applying these technologies. Through experimental tests, the energy efficiency of units of heat pump with water-ground source is more than 15% higher than that of ordinary units.

Abstract:Air source heat pump,a high efficiency,energy conservation and environmental protection device,is in prospect of wide application and market value.But the unstable performance and lower coefficient of performance(COP) in low ambient temperature restrain the promotion and application of air source heat pump products.This paper analyzed the disadvantages of air source heat pump in low temperature environment through the review of both domestic and international investigations on system improvement in low temperature environment.Besides,the development and trend of air source heat pump is also proposed based on the latest research progresses in the aspects of new alternative refrigerant,the combined air source heat pump with phase change materials as well as the development of new heat pump system,respectively.
