Abstract:A new theoretical method has been developed to deal with ion acoustic soliton in collisionless plasma with cold ions (T(e) much greater than T(i)). The analytical soliton solution can be found from the magnetic hydrodynamics equation other than from the usual KdV equation.

Abstract:In the presence of an applied static and uniform magnetic field, a cylindrical Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (CKP) equation is derived for a relativistically magnetosonic solitary wave propagating in a collisionless plasma in the case of weak relativistic limit. The equation is solved in a stationary frame to obtain a particular solution. It is shown that the externally imposed magnetic field greatly influences the phase velocity, amplitude and width of the CKP soliton.

Abstract:Under investigation in this paper is a (3 + 1)-dimensional modified Korteweg–de Vries–Zakharov–Kuznetsov (KdV-ZK) equation, which describes the nonlinear behaviors of ion-acoustic waves in a magnetized plasma where the cooler ions are treated as a fluid with adiabatic pressure and the hot isothermal electrons are described by a Boltzmann distribution. With the Hirota method and symbolic computation, we obtain the one-, two- and three-soliton solutions for such an equation. We graphically study the solitons related with the coefficient of the cubic nonlinearity [Formula: see text]. Amplitude of the one soliton increases with increasing [Formula: see text], but the width of one soliton keeps unchanged as [Formula: see text] increases. The two solitons and three solitons are parallel, and the amplitudes of the solitons increase with increasing [Formula: see text], but the widths of the solitons are unchanged. It is shown that the interactions between the two solitons and among the three solitons are elastic.

Abstract:In the presence of an applied uniform magnetic field B0, the properties of 2-dimensional (2D) magnetosonic solitary waves of relativistic amplitude in the plasma containing electron, light ions He+, and heavy ions O+ are presented. In the weakly relativistic limit, a Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (KP) equation is derived by reductive perturbation method. We give the N-soliton solution of the KP equation and find dromion solutions of a potential of the physical field. The interaction law of the dromions is obtained, which shows there is no exchange of energy, momentum, and angular momentum before and after interaction of the dromions except for phase shifts.

Abstract:The mechanism of ion-acoustic (IA) soliton oblique collisions is examined at nonzero temperatures and critical compositions in a magnetized ultra-relativistic degenerate plasma using the extended Poincaré–Lighthill–Kuo (EPLK) method. Two conditions, referred to as the generic and critical cases, are obtained. Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equations that govern the excitation of IA solitons and their phase shifts have been derived for the generic case. At a critical composition, modified KdV (mKdV) equations describe the nonlinear propagation of IA solitons, and thus the corresponding phase shifts are deduced. Furthermore, for an in-depth investigation, we examined the collision of two IA solitons of the same polarity and opposite polarities arising from oblique collisions at discrete times. In these two situations, the phase shifts of IA solitons due to the oblique collisions increase with an increase in the collision angle. The phase shift curve reaches its maximum value at the perpendicular collision. This work may aid in interpreting the features of IA solitons in a degenerate plasma, such as white dwarfs, that support soliton propagation.

Abstract:With an externally applied uniform magnetic field, a Kadomtsev-Petviashivili (KP) equation is derived to study the perpendicular nonlinear wave in a collisionless plasma consisting electrons, positrons, and ions for weak relativistic limit. The stationary solution was presented for the group velocity, amplitude, and width of the soliton. It is shown that both the externally imposed magnetic field and the ratio of the ion equilibrium density to the electron equilibrium density influence strongly the group velocity, amplitude, and width of the KP soliton. By using the figure analysis, we study the interaction law of the two parallel line-solitons.

Abstract:In a magnetized e-p-i plasma with two-electron temperatures, the (3+1)-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation for the ion-acoustic envelope solitons is hereby investigated. Bright and dark soliton solutions are both obtained. It is found that the soliton amplitude is inversely related to P, Q and R, with P, Q and R respectively as the coefficients of the dispersive term, nonlinear term and combined effect of the transverse perturbation and magnetic field. Head-on interactions are displayed, and with Q and R decreasing, can be transferred into the overtaking ones. Bright bound-state solitons are obtained, and the interaction period decreases with Q increasing. Both the head-on and overtaking interactions between the two dark solitons are displayed, and such a head-on interaction can be transformed into the overtaking one with R increasing. Upon the introduction of the external perturbation, the developed and weak chaos are observed. Phase projections and power spectra are presented. Difference between the two chaotic motions roots in the inequality between the nonlinear and perturbed terms. Developed chaos can be weakened with Q decreasing, or with the frequency of external perturbation increasing.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, we investigate a (3+1)-dimensional modified Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation, which describes the nonlinear plasma-acoustic waves in a multicomponent magnetised plasma. With the aid of the Hirota method and symbolic computation, bilinear forms and one-, two- and three-soliton solutions are derived. The characteristics and interaction of the solitons are discussed graphically. We present the effects on the soliton’s amplitude by the nonlinear coefficients which are related to the ratio of the positive-ion mass to negative-ion mass, number densities, initial densities of the lower- and higher-temperature electrons and ratio of the lower temperature to the higher temperature for electrons, as well as by the dispersion coefficient, which is related to the ratio of the positive-ion mass to the negative-ion mass and number densities. Moreover, using the Lie symmetry group theory, we derive the Lie point symmetry generators and the corresponding symmetry reductions, through which certain analytic solutions are obtained via the power series expansion method and the (G′/G) expansion method. We demonstrate that such an equation is strictly self-adjoint, and the conservation laws associated with the Lie point symmetry generators are derived.

Abstract:Propagation of three-dimensional nonlinear ion-acoustic solitary waves and shocks in a homogeneous magnetised electron–positron–ion plasma is analysed. Modified extended mapping method is introduced to find ion-acoustic solitary wave solutions of the three-dimensional modified Korteweg–de Vries–Zakharov–Kuznetsov equation. As a result, solitary wave solutions (which represent electrostatic field potential), electric fields, magnetic fields and quantum statistical pressures are obtained with the aid of Mathematica. These new exact solitary wave solutions are obtained in different forms such as periodic, kink and antikink, dark soliton, bright soliton, bright and dark solitary wave etc. The results are expressed in the forms of hyperbolic, trigonometric, exponential and rational functions. The electrostatic field potential and electric and magnetic fields are shown graphically. These results demonstrate the efficiency and precision of the method that can be applied to many other mathematical and physical problems.

Abstract:Modern Physics Letters B, Ahead of Print. In this paper, we are going to investigate the (3+1)-dimensional nonlinear modified Korteweg–de Vries-Zakharov–Kuznetsov (mKdV–ZK) equation, which governs the behavior of weakly nonlinear ion acoustic waves in magnetized electron–positron plasma. By taking advantage of the newly proposed modified Sardar sub-equation method, we derive a comprehensive set of exact soliton solutions to the mKdV–ZK equation. Additionally, we provide graphical representations of the solutions, including 2D, 3D, and contour plots, to visualize the characteristics and features of these nonlinear wave structures. These solutions encompass a diverse range of wave patterns, including traveling waves, bright solitons, periodic waves, dark–bright solitons, lump-type solitons, and multi-soliton solutions. The obtained solutions provide valuable insights into the nonlinear behaviors and dynamics exhibited by the mKdV–ZK equation. The success of the new modified Sardar sub-equation method in obtaining a diverse range of solutions for the [math]-dimensional mKdV–ZK equation highlights its potential for applications in the analysis of various nonlinear systems in plasma physics and beyond. Also, the study reviewed the superiority of the modified method compared to the Sardar sub-equation method.

Abstract:We study the magnetosonic waves (MWs) propagating in magnetized plasmas comprising light warm ions, cold heavy ions and hot electrons at the Earth's ionosphere. The dispersion relation is given and the effects of different physical parameters on the frequency of fast and slow MSWs are shown. We derive a KdV equation for the MSWs in multi-ion plasma and study the two-soliton and three-soliton overtaking collision of KdV MSWs by Hirota's bilinear method. We show the trajectories and amplitude of solitons in this process, and the phase shift after collision. It is found that when solitons merge, it will form a new soliton whose amplitude first decreases then increases. The effects of physical parameters on the phase shift of multi-soliton collision are presented. It is worth noting that the solitons' interaction can result in the redistribution of momentum and energy in the plasmas.

Abstract:In this paper, the nonlinear propagation of electrostatic collisional among multi-solitons around the critical values along with their corresponding phase shifts and collision between two rouge waves propagating toward each other is studied in an unmagnetized plasma environment. Using the concept of Hirota’s bilinear method, the useful forms of multi-solitons solutions of the coupled modified Korteweg–de Vries equations (mKdVEs) are determined. Furthermore, the coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations (NLSEs) are derived from mKdVEs using the appropriate starching coordinates. The analytic solutions of different orders for the coupled NLSEs are also presented. The effects of the parameters related to the plasma environment on the electron acoustic scattered solitons, phase shifts and scattered rouge waves are analyzed. The proposed results provide the theoretical guidance to understand the propagation characteristics of collisional solitons, and their phase shifts around the critical values and collisional rouge waves in the modulated ranges.

Abstract:Despite many theoretical studies on soliton formation and its propagation in plasmas, no study with multicomponent magnetized plasma has derived the special nonlinear wave equation, called the Zakharov–Kuznetsov equation [V. E. Zakharov and E. A. Kuznetsov, Sov. Phys. JETP 39, 285 (1974)]. Thus, the main emphasis has been given to employing the hyperbolic-type method for finding the soliton features in relation to laboratory and space plasma environments. Where this method has been unsuccessful, an alternate method has been developed to yield the soliton propagation. The features of the nonlinear plasma-acoustic waves, which depend on the plasma composition, affect the coexistence of compressive and rarefactive solitary waves. Later, allowing for the higher order nonlinearity in the dynamics, one is led to further different solitary waves along with double layers. The main aim of the present study is to use a new formalism for finding the soliton propagation from the nonlinear wave equation with strong, as well as weak, nonlinearity. The coexistence of different nonlinear acoustic modes due to the interaction of multiple charges in plasma is shown. Moreover, the theoretical observations revealed many other soliton-like structures, which could be similar to the dip and hump solitons observed by the Freja Scientific Satellite and the collapsed solitons expected in the propagation of solar flares, as well as in the interplanetary space plasmas.

Abstract:International Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics, Ahead of Print. This study examines the dynamical equation of the modified Korteweg–de Vries–Zakharov–Kuznetsov (mKdV-ZK), which is used to describe wave propagation in a dispersive and nonlinear medium. This equation is an extension of the well-known KdV-ZK equation, which has been extensively studied in the literature. In this study, we examine the solitary wave solutions of the (3+1)-dimensional mKdV-ZK equation using two analytical techniques: the generalized [math]-expansion approach and the two-variable [math]-expansion techniques. As a result, novel soliton solutions in a variety of forms, including Kink- and anti-Kink-type breather waves, dark and bright solitons, Kink soliton and multi-peak solitons, etc. are attained. The solitary wave solutions (which represent the electrostatic field potential), quantum statistical pressures, electric fields and magnetic fields are accomplished with the use of software. These solutions have numerous applications in various areas of physics and other sciences. These results also have applications in electromagnetic wave propagation, nonlinear optics, and plasma physics. Graphical representations of these results have also been presented. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of the two-variable expansion strategy, which will also be useful in solving many other nonlinear models that arise in mathematical physics and several other applied sciences fields. This work contributes to the advancement of novel wave manipulation and control methods, the construction of improved photonic devices for sensing and communications, and plasma confinement in fusion devices, among other uses.

Abstract:The extended Zakharov-Kuznetsov (eZK) equation for the magnetized two-ion-temperature dusty plasma is studied in this paper. With the help of Hirota method, bilinear forms and N-soliton solutions are given, and soliton propagation is graphically analyzed. We find that the soliton amplitude is positively related to the nonlinear coefficient A, while inversely related to the dispersion coefficients B and C. We obtain that the soliton amplitude will increase with the mass of the jth dust grain and the average charge number residing on the dust grain decreased, but the soliton amplitude will increase with the equilibrium number density of the jth dust grain increased. Upon the introduction of the periodic external forcing term, both the weak and developed chaotic motions can occur. Difference between the two chaotic motions roots in the inequality between the nonlinear coefficient l2 and perturbed term h1. The developed chaos can be weakened with B or C decreased and A increased. Periodic motion of the perturbed eZK equation can be observed when there is a balance between l2 and h1.

Abstract:An Ohm's law for electron-positron (EP) plasma is obtained. In the framework of EP magnetohydrodynamics, we investigate nonrelativistic nonlinear waves' solutions in a magnetized EP plasma. In the collisionless limit, quasistationary propagating solitary wave structures for the magnetic field and the plasma density are obtained. It is found that the wave amplitude increases with the Mach number and the Alfven speed. However, the dependence on the plasma temperature is just the opposite. Moreover, for a cold EP plasma, the existence range of the solitary waves depends only on the Alfven speed. For a hot EP plasma, the existence range depends on the Alfven speed as well as the plasma temperature. In the presence of collision, the electromagnetic fields and the plasma density can appear as oscillatory shock structures because of the dissipation caused by the collisions. As the collision frequency increases, the oscillatory shock structure becomes more and more monotonic. (C) 2014 AIP Publishing LLC.

Abstract:Symbolically investigated in this paper is the Zakharov–Kuznetsov equation which describes the propagation of the electrostatic excitations in a magnetized, rotating and collisionless three-component plasma. Bilinear form and Bäcklund transformation for the Zakharov–Kuznetsov equation are derived with the Hirota method and symbolic computation. N-soliton solutions in terms of the Wronskian determinant are constructed, and the verification is finished through the direct substitution into bilinear equations. Propagation characteristics and interaction behaviors of the solitons are discussed through a graphical analysis. During the propagation, the one-soliton width and amplitude are both unchanged and not related to the coefficients, while the soliton interactions are elastic.

Abstract:The dynamics of head-on collision of two magnetosonic solitary waves in ionosphere plasma of the Earth is investigated. A geomagnetic field model standing for the relation between a magnetic field and latitude is used to study nonlinear magnetosonic waves in the ionosphere of Earth. The linear and weakly nonlinear properties of magnetosonic waves are studied by the dispersion relation and the extended Poincaré–Lighthill–Kuo (PLK) method, respectively. Two coupled damped Korteweg–de Vries equations (dKdV) are derived for oppositely propagating magnetosonic solitary waves. The explicit solitary wave solutions are obtained in the weak collision limit, and the trajectories and phase shifts of two magnetosonic solitary waves are derived, which show that collisional dynamics and their phase shifts are dependent on the collision caused by neutral particles and the properties of the ionosphere. This study is applied to investigate the two-counterpropagating magnetosonic solitary waves located in the F2-region of the Earth's ionosphere at low latitude. This study should be beneficial to understand the interaction dynamics of the head-on nonlinear magnetosonic waves located in the F2 layer of the ionosphere when collision effects caused by neutral particles and geomagnetic field distribution are considered.
