Abstract:The paper means to systematically clarifying on-line learning conceptional transformation in recent years. The article contains three parts. The first part introduces the background of on-line learning conceptional transformation. At the beginning of the 21st century, on-line learning is facing rigorous challenges: one is that some new educational institutions are at a low ebb when they adopts complete on-line learning; another is that larger part of higher education institutions have adopted on-line learning, but actually it is combination of face-to-face and on-line learning. Hence, the term of blended on-line learning has come into use. The second part of this article analyzes the transformation from on-line learning to blended on-line learning. Blended on-line learning is the principal module of blended learning, which aims to bring the advantages of face-to-face learning into on-line learning and bring the advantages of on-line learning into face-to-face learning. The third part approaches the transformation from blended on-line learning to integrated on-line learning. As the word "blended" can not reflect the connotation of the organic combination between face-to-face and on-line learning, the integrated on-line learning will eventually take the place of blended on-line learning and then different modules of integrated on-line learning will come into being. For instance, there are 5T integrated on-line learning module by the University of Waterloo and integrated on-line learning system proposed by Jochemes. The authors agree that international on-line learning conceptional transform will offer us at least three aspects of enlightenment: (1) Practice of on-line learning need the guidance of theory; (2) The theoretical approach of on-line learning can not lose contact with practice; (3) Management and the organizing system of higher educational institutions need overall reform so as to meet challenges brought about by integrated on-line learning.
