A new species of sinocyclocheilus from Yunnan,China

Abstract:This paper describes a new species of the genus Sinocyclocheilus Fang 1936,collected from the Yimen County,Yunnan.The type specimens are all deposited in Heilongtan Reservoir of Shilin County,Yunnan.Holotype:030509001 total length 133 mm,standard length 105 mm,collected on May 9,2003 from cave dalongkou Yimen County,Yunnan,(24°22′N,102°05′E,altitude 1610 m)Paratype 13 specimens,No 99060203-007,030509002-009 total length 71-140 mm,standard length 57-111 mm,collected on June 2,1999 and May 9,2003 on the holotype.Description:D,iii,7;A,ii,5;P.i,14-15;V,i,8;Branched caudal fin rays 16-17. Lateral line scales 7029-3116-20-υ79.Gill-rakers 5-7,Pharyhgeal teeth 3 rows 2.3.4/4.3.2. Body depth in standard length 3.32-4.05(3.61),head length 3.27-3.63(3.43),length of caudal peduncle 4.35-5.30(4.74),depth of caudal peduncle 7.75-9.14(8.34).Snout in head 3.00-3.80(3.18),eye 4.00-5.40(4.68),interorbital 2.70-3.90(3.18).Depth of caudal peduncle 1.58-2.00(1.76)in its length.Diagnosis:The new species is similar to S.multipunctatus(Pellegrin)1931,but differs from the latter in :i.lateral line scales 7029-3116-20-υ79;Vs5932-3822-24-υ68;ii.Girr-rakers 5-7;Vs7-10;iii.barbel long,Vs short;④River of Honghe;Vs River of Zhujiang.
