Abstract:Image blurring caused by motion and camera jitter is a common phenomenon nowadays, and blurring directly leads to the decline of image quality. The paper provides an image deblurring method based on Fourier transform. The method includes treating the blurring problem as an inverse problem. Firstly, the blurred image is preliminarily de-noised to remove part of the noise and improve the image quality. Then, the original clear image and the blur calculator are estimated respectively by double iteration method. The experimental results show that our method has good deblurring effect.

Abstract:To remove the non-uniformity noise in the infrared image,the denoise and enhancement algorithm based on Kalman filter is proposed.In the framework of Bayesian-MAP inference,the feasibility of Kalman filter was discussed.Due to the inner temperature increment and the circuit parameters' minor changes of the imaging system,each pixel's fixed pattern noise(FPN) varies slowly and non-uniformly between frames.Based on this view,the dark frame was modeled.The level of the FPN was estimated by Kalman filter acted on sequential dark frames.The noise influence factor(NIF) was introduced to evaluate the influence of the FPN to the pixel's output signal.And then,the reasonable weight of each pixel's FPN was determined adaptively by means of NIF.The non-uniformity of the infrared image can be corrected after weighted subtraction FPN from the real noisy image data on pixels one by one.The algorithm was applied in real infrared images and gray mean grads(GMG) was used to evaluate its performance.In target neighborhood,GMG is reduced by 5.1%.It means that the image is smoothed and the edges are preserved well.At the same time,GMG is reduced by 85.5% in smooth neighborhood.The experiments show that algorithm produces an obvious denoise and enhancive effect in both target and smooth regions.

Abstract:The bi-color sinusoidal fringe patterns are used to depress the effect of zero frequency extension on fundamental frequency component in Fourier transform profilometry.A novel intensity-modulated method is proposed to eliminate the zero frequency component,which can improve the measuring precision and range.Two compounding monochrome fringe patterns with phase difference of π can be obtained by separating color channel of one color image.After calibration of intensity modulation and zero component elimination,the shape is obtained.The feasibility of the algorithm is validated by both theoretical simulation and experiment performance.Compared to the traditional phase shift method to eliminate the zero frequency component,this method has a significant advantage at speed and is suitable for real-time measurement of three-dimensional objects.

Abstract:In this paper, some novel methods for direction map calculating, greyscale fingerprint image filtering based on direction template and binary image filtering based on mathmatical morphology method are proposed. Experiments show that the suggested approach can greatly reduce the noises and pseudo-structures, and hence is helpful for the feature extraction and fingerprint identification.

Abstract:Fingerprint image binarization, as a critical part of fingerprint image preprocessing, is the precondition of fingerprint image thinning. In order to utilize the texture characteristics of the fingerprint image effectively, this paper introduces the orientation information into fingerprint image binarization, after considering the fingerprint image orientation information and adaptive local threshold synthetically, this paper brings forward a complete set of adaptive local threshold binarization and post-processing algorithm combined with the orientation information. The contrastive experimental results indicate that the presented algorithm can achieve better binarization effects than the adaptive binarization algorithm. Moreover, the algorithm has good capability of repairing the disconnected line, eliminating the holes and removing crossed lines in the fingerprint image to a certain extent, which has important meaning for improving the minutiae extraction precision.

Abstract:Fingerprint enhancement plays a very important role in automatic fingerprint identification system. In order to ensure reliable fingerprint identification and improve fingerprint ridge structure, a novel method based on the collaborative filtering model for fingerprint enhancement is proposed. The proposed method consists of two stages. First, the original fingerprint is pre-enhanced by using Gabor filter and linear contrast stretching. Next, the pre-enhanced fingerprint is partitioned into patches in spatial domain, and then the patches are enhanced based on spectra diffusion by using the two-dimensional (2D) angular-pass filter and the 2D Butterworth band-pass filter. The proposed method takes full advantage of the ridge information and spectra diffusion with higher quality to recover the lost ridge information. To evaluate proposed method, the databases FVC2004 are employed, and the comparison experiments are carried out using various methods. Comparative experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the existing state-of-the-art methods on fingerprint enhancement.

Abstract:2D adaptive Chebyshev band-pass filter (ACBF) with orientation-selective, a novel fingerprint enhancement filter, is designed in this paper. The fingerprint enhancement is deeply rooted in the spectra diffusion by performing the 2D ACBF with orientation-selective in the frequency domain. The process of the enhancement is to have two phases: fingerprint is first enhanced by using Gabor filter and histogram equalization (HE), and then the pre-enhanced fingerprint is enhanced based on spectra diffusion by using the 2D ACBF with orientation-selective in frequency domain. In the first stage, the fingerprint quality can be improved in some extent. In the second stage, first, the qualities of patches are evaluated by the coherence of point orientations. Second, the adaptive parameters of the 2D ACBF are estimated, further, the 2D ACBF with orientation-selective is designed. Finally, the fingerprint image is enhanced based on spectra diffusion by using the 2D ACBF with orientation-selective. Experimental results on the database of FVC2000 and FVC2004 show that the proposed method achieves better results in comparison with other methods, and can significantly improves the performance of automatic fingerprint identification system (AFIS).

Abstract:For the low contrast between ridges and valleys,shake blur and other issues of fingerprint images obtained with digital cameras,a contactless fingerprint image enhancement algorithm based on Retinex theory and Short Time Fourier Transform (STFT) analysis is proposed.According to Retinex theory,the non-uniformity effect of the illumination is eliminated by using the relative brightness and darkness of each pixel in the image,and the contrast between ridges and valleys is increased,which enhances the contactless fingerprint image initially.The method of STFT analysis is used to extract the texture information of the fingerprint image,such as orientation map,frequency map and so on.Then the angle filter and radius filter are built to filter the results of initial enhancement in the frequency domain,which further improves the image contrast while effectively suppressing the interference of noise.Experimental results show that the present algorithm has a better performance on contactless fingerprint image enhancement,which can not only effectively improve the contrast between ridges and valleys of fingerprint,but also maintain the continuity of the ridge better,and its average speed is a little faster than the method combining homomorphic filtering and Gabor filtering.

Abstract:An improved composite Fourier transform profilometry (ICFTP) is proposed through optimizing the composite grating. Compared with the composite Fourier transform profilometry (CFTP), the frequencies of the two sinusoidal images modulated along the orthogonal direction in the optimized composite grating are not equal. The overlapping degree of Fourier spectrum of the optimized grating is lowered. The measuring accuracy is improved because two frequencies are used to calculate phase more accurately. By using a more advantageous flat image extracted ingeniously from the optimized grating, the zero component of the lower frequency sinusoidal image in the Fourier spectrum can be eliminated. So the measuring range is extended the same as that by the π phase shifting technique. Both numerical simulation and experiment demonstrate the feasibility and validity of the proposed method.

Abstract:This paper proposes a design and implementation scheme of Gabor filter for fingerprint image enhancement.It employs accurate local orientation and frequency to achieve better enhancement effect.To address the subsequent problem of bandwidth increase,a specific Input/ Output(I/O) buffer is designed,which can almost cut off 10/11 bandwidth.At SMIC 0.13 μm technology,the equivalent gate count is 240 000,while the frequency is 250 MHz.Due to the introduction of pipeline,the design scheme can achieve a throughput more than 2 Mpixels/s,when convolution kernel size is 11×11.Experimental result shows that the scheme can well satisfy the requirements of the real-time applications.

Abstract:To overcome the influence caused by shift and rotation in fingerprint matching,an correlation-based algorithm is presented.Fourier-Mellin Transform(FMT) is employed here,which can determine the rotation angle between the template and query fingerprint directly,while traditional correlation methods have to calculate the correlation over all possible rotations.The phase information is extracted from the result of FMT,and BLPOC is used to obtain the correlation of the template and query fingerprint images.The Band-Limited Phase-Only Correlation(BLPOC) method is more robust to the noise and can provide a sharper peak to distinguish the genuine and impostor matching than the original Phase-Only Correlation(POC).Learning from the result of simulation,EER is and FAR is.

Abstract:Fingerprint enhancement is a critical part in an automatic fingerprint verification system, which can improve the quality of the fingerprint and extract reliable minutiae in a fingerprint. In this paper, we proposed an effective and robust algorithm for fingerprint enhancement. Firstly, we use contrast stretching approach to improve the clarity between foreground and background of the fingerprint image. Then we utilize the structure tensor property to estimate the fingerprint orientation to improve the accuracy of orientation estimation. Finally, we combine the advantages of Gabor filtering method and diffusion filtering method, and adopt low-pass filter at the direction that is parallel to the ridge, and adopt band-pass filter at the direction that is perpendicular to the ridge. In the experiment, we have evaluated the performance of our method for fingerprint enhancement, and the results show that our algorithm performs much better within less time.

Abstract:Smoothing filters are widely used in computer vision and computer graphics. Bilateral filtering is a typical edge-preserving filter, which has the advantages of sharpening the image edge contour and denoising. The traditional adaptive bilateral filtering algorithms only considered the spatial variance and the adaptation of gray-scale variance which ignores the influence of the convolution kernel on infrared images. In this paper, an adaptive bilateral filter method improved convolution kernel is proposed for infrared image enhancement which combines the edge detection operator with bilateral filtering. The method primarily combines the advantages of edge detection operators to propose an improved convolution kernel in bilateral filtering. The main purpose of the proposed method is used to enhance the details of infrared images and suppress noise. The effective of the proposed method is verified by the experiment.

Abstract:An improved enhancement method based on the Gabor filtering technique is proposed.Firstly,an improved calculation method of the region mask is suggested.Then,para-meters for the ridge frequency calculation are determined according to the fingerprint sensors.By utilizing these parameters,problems of the non-sinusoidal-shaped wave for the fingerprint projection can be effectively resolved.The method is tested with the FVC2004 fingerprint database.Experimental results show that the enhancement result of the method is improved.

Abstract:It is necessary for the real-time acquired fingerprint to be preprocessed before matching due to the acquiring equipment which results in noisy fingerprint images. Considering the feature of fingerprint, i.e. the concentrated texture, we employ an improved smoothing algorithm based on a nonlinear diffusion equation. This method, to some extent, is effective for both smoothing and edge preserving, mainly because it prevents the blurring effect of degenerate diffusion equation for the points with big gray level variations. Compared with other methods, this algorithm has better performance for preprocessing of noisy fingerprint images.

Abstract:Palmprint identification refers to searching in a database for the palmprint template, which is from the same palm as a given palmprint input. The identification process involves preprocessing, feature extraction, feature matching and decision-making. As a key step in the process, in this paper, we propose a new feature extraction method by converting a palmprint image from a spatial domain to a frequency domain using Fourier Transform. The features extracted in the frequency domain are used as indexes to the palmprint templates in the database and the searching process for the best match is conducted by a layered fashion. The experimental results show that palmprint identification based on feature extraction in the frequency domain is effective in terms of accuracy and efficiency.
