Abstract:Computer aided detection and diagnosis system (CAD) is designed to improve the efficiency and quality of medical diagnosis. The existing CAD system tries to realize a diagnosis process in an automatic way to replace the doctor's diagnosis work completely, but it is difficult to capture the doctor's detection and diagnosis needs and goals accurately due to lack of doctor's experience. Thus, the accuracy is not up to the doctor's manual diagnosis results, and it is a tedious and cumbersome job to use the system because it requires manual intervention, which leads to the fact that CAD system was difficult to be widely used. This paper analyzes the characteristics of doctors' diagnosis tasks deeply, and makes the reasonable allocation of tasks between the doctor and computer. Then the perceptual control theory is introduced into the task model, a PTT task model is proposed to make it express uncertainty of the doctor's diagnosis tasks, and it can be used as a reference for future uncertainty task analysis. Therefore, an interactive CAD tasks framework is put forward with the assistant decision support provided for doctors by means of Bayesian network model and conceptual graph semantic matching method to diagnose tasks. In addition, effective support is provided for interface development staffs to design interactive systems that are suitable for the physicians' diagnostic tasks. The experimental results show that the method not only improves the accuracy and efficiency of the medical diagnosis, but also improves the usability of the system design.

Abstract:Aquaculture fish diseases pose a serious threat to the security of food supplies. Fish species vary widely, and because they resemble one another so much, it is challenging to distinguish between them based solely on appearance. To stop the spread of disease, it is important to identify sick fish as soon as possible. Due to a lack of necessary infrastructure, it is still difficult to identify infected fish in aquaculture at an early stage. It is essential to promptly identify sick fish to stop the spread of disease. The purpose of this work is to suggest a machine learning technique based on the DCNN method for identifying and categorizing fish diseases. To solve problems involving global optimization, this paper suggests a brand-new hybrid algorithm called the Whale Optimization Algorithm with Genetic Algorithm (WOA-GA) and Ant Colony Optimization. In this work, for classification, the hybrid Random Forest algorithm is used. To facilitate the increased quality, distinctions between both the proposed WOA-GA-based DCNN architecture and the presently used methods for machine learning have been made. The effectiveness of the proposed detection technique is done with MATLAB. Performance metrics like sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, precision, recall, F-measure, NPV, FPR, FNR, and MCC are compared to the performance of the proposed technique.

Abstract:Different from the conventional methods, this paper presents a case-based reasoning (CBR) method for cucumber fusarium wilt (CFW) prevention and treatment, with vantage case-based indexing and retrieval mechanism, sensitivity analysis based reasoning method and Recall evaluation based case retaining strategy. The optimal interval of case dissimilarity distance threshold T is inferred from the experimental results by X fold cross-validation method. The experiments and application show that useful information can be generated for CFW prevention and treatment and the dynamic adjustment for decision-making of cucumber planting can be assisted by the proposed CBR system.

Abstract:In this paper, a multiple fault diagnosis method based on case-based reasoning (CBR) is presented. And the characteristics of multiple fault modes are studied, then the case knowledge library is established for multiple faults, finally a two-step case retrieval strategy is proposed. The candidate case generation method based on the membership weights is employed to initially retrieve, which can reduce the number of candidate cases efficiently. Then, through calculating the case similarity using the grey relational analysis, the most probable fault case is obtained. It can avoids the problem of time-consuming computation resulting from the combination explosion of multiple faults. Finally, an example is applied to illustrate the proposed scheme, the results mean that the above method is effective, and it can be adopted in the actual industrial production.

Abstract:Introduction: Case-based reasoning (CBR) systems are one of the effective methods to find the nearest solution to the current problems. These systems are used in various spheres as well as industry, business, and economy. The medical field is not an exception in this regard, and these systems are nowadays used in the various aspects of diagnosis and treatment. Methodology: In this study, the effective parameters were first extracted from the structured discharge summary prepared for patients with chronic kidney diseases based on data mining method. Then, through holding a meeting with experts in nephrology and using data mining methods, the weights of the parameters were extracted. Finally, fuzzy system has been employed in order to compare the similarities of current case and previous cases, and the system was implemented on the Android platform. Discussion: The data on electronic discharge records of patients with chronic kidney diseases were entered into the system. The measure of similarity was assessed using the algorithm provided in the system, and then compared with other known methods in CBR systems. Conclusion: Developing Clinical fuzzy CBR system used in Knowledge management framework for registering specific therapeutic methods, Knowledge sharing environment for experts in a specific domain and Powerful tools at the point of care.

Abstract:Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) also known as heart disease are now the leading cause of death in the world. This paper presents research for the design and creation of a fuzzy logic-based expert system for the prognosis and diagnosis of heart disease that is precise, economical, and effective. This system entails a fuzzification module, knowledge base, inference engine, and defuzzification module where seven attributes such as chest pain type, HbA1c (Haemoglobin A1c), HDL (high-density lipoprotein), LDL (low-density lipoprotein), heart rate, age, and blood pressure are considered as input to the system. With the aid of the available literature and extensive consultation with medical experts in this field, an enriched knowledge database has been created with a sufficient number of IF-THEN rules for the diagnosis of heart disease. The inference engine then activates the appropriate IF-THEN rule from the knowledge base and determines the output value using the appropriate defuzzification technique after the fuzzification module fuzzifies each input depending on the appropriate membership function. Moreover, the fusion of web-based technology makes it suitable and cost-effective for the prognosis of heart disease for a patient and then he can take his decision for addressing the problem based on the status of his heart. On the other hand, it can also assist a medical practitioner to reach a more accurate conclusion regarding the treatment of heart disease for a patient. The Mamdani inference method has been used to evaluate the results. The system is tested with the Cleveland dataset and cross-checked with the in-field dataset. Compared with the other existing expert systems, the proposed method performs 98.08% accurately and can make accurate decisions for diagnosing heart diseases.

Abstract:In this article, an autonomous robotic fish is designed for underwater operations like object detection and tracking along with collision avoidance. The computer-aided design model for prototype robotic fish is designed using the Solid Works (R) software to export an stereolithography (STL) file to MakerBot, a 3D printer, to manufacture the parts of robotic fish using polylactic acid thermoplastic polymer. The precise maneuverability of the robotic fish is achieved by the propulsion of a caudal fin. The oscillation of the caudal fin is controlled by a servomotor. A combination of visual and ultrasonic sensors is used to track the position and distance of the desired object with respect to the fish and also to avoid the obstacles. The robotic fish has the ability to detect an object up to a distance of 90 cm at normal exposure conditions. A computational fluid dynamics analysis is conducted to analyze the fluid hydrodynamics (flow rate of water and pressure) around the hull of a robotic fish and the drag force acting on it. A series of experimental results have shown the effectiveness of the designed underwater robotic fish.

Abstract:This paper reveals the research hotspots and development directions of case-based reasoning in the field of health care, and proposes the framework and key technologies of medical knowledge service systems based on case-based reasoning (CBR) in the big data environment. The 2124 articles on medical CBR in the Web of Science were visualized and analyzed using a bibliometrics method, and a CBR-based knowledge service system framework was constructed in the medical Internet of all people, things and data resources environment. An intelligent construction method for the clinical medical case base and the gray case knowledge reasoning model were proposed. A cloud-edge collaboration knowledge service system was developed and applied in a pilot project. Compared with other diagnostic tools, the system provides case-based explanations for its predicted results, making it easier for physicians to understand and accept, so that they can make better decisions. The results show that the system has good interpretability, has better acceptance than the common intelligent decision support system, and strongly supports physician auxiliary diagnosis and treatment as well as clinical teaching.

Abstract:Effective disease management and mitigation strategies for fish diseases depend on timely and accurate diagnosis. In recent years, artificial intelligence methods—classification algorithms in particular—have become effective instruments for automating fish disease diagnosis. This paper presents two types of ensemble models: i) the baseline averaged ensemble (AE) model and ii) the novel Performance Metric-Infused Weighted Ensemble (PMIWE) model. By leveraging pre-trained models and novel ensemble techniques, we achieve a testing accuracy of 97.53%, corresponding precision, recall, and F1-score of 97%. We also bring about enhanced interpretability and trustworthiness using the Grad-CAM (Gradient-weighted Class Activation Mapping) explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) technique.

Abstract:With the burgeoning global demand for seafood, potential solutions like aquaculture are increasingly significant, provided they address issues like pollution and food security challenges in a sustainable manner. However, significant obstacles such as disease outbreaks and inaccurate biomass estimation underscore the need for optimized solutions. This paper proposes "Fish-Sense", a deep learning-based pipeline inspired by the human visual system's ability to recognize and classify objects, developed in conjunction with fish farms, aiming to enhance disease detection and biomass estimation in the aquaculture industry. Our automated framework is two-pronged: one module for biomass estimation using deep learning algorithms to segment fish, classify species, and estimate biomass; and another for disease symptom detection symptoms, employing deep learning algorithms to classify fish into healthy and unhealthy categories, and subsequently identifying symptoms and locations of bacterial infections if a fish is classified as unhealthy. To overcome data scarcity in this field, we have created four novel real-world datasets for fish segmentation, health classification, species classification, and fish part segmentation. Our biomass estimation algorithms demonstrated substantial accuracy across five species, and the health classification. These algorithms provide a foundation for the development of industrial software solutions to improve fish health monitoring in aquaculture farms. Our integrated pipeline facilitates the transition from research to real-world applications, potentially encouraging responsible aquaculture practices. Nevertheless, these advancements must be seen as part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at improving the aquaculture industry's sustainability and efficiency, in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals' evolving interpretations. Abstract:Recognizing diseases from theoretical perspective can help ordinary people have a general understanding of medicine. The usual process of identifying syndromes or diseases in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is by confirming the frequently symptom patterns. Semantic Web and ontologies introduce well-structured controlled vocabularies for biomedical science. The direct correspondence between symptoms and syndromes can be formatted to semantic inference rules as a additional knowledge upon a medical ontology. In this paper, we present a simplified rule-based diagnostic system for febrile disease theory in TCM, which make use of the capability of semantic inference based on medical ontology. Actually the method is rather general for logic-based medical diagnosis, and we show that without interpreting clinical data, the medical knowledge itself can be applied to do basic clinical diagnosis.

Abstract:In the present paper, a fuzzy rule-based system (FRBS) is designed to serve as a decision support system for Coronary heart disease (CHD) diagnosis that not only considers the decision accuracy of the rules but also their transparency at the same time. To achieve the two above mentioned objectives, we apply a multi-objective genetic algorithm to optimize both the accuracy and transparency of the FRBS. In addition and to help assess the certainty and the importance of each rule by the physician, an extended format of fuzzy rules that incorporates the degree of decision certainty and importance or support of each rule at the consequent part of the rules is introduced. Furthermore, a new way for employing Ensemble Classifiers Strategy (ECS) method is proposed to enhance the classification ability of the FRBS. The results show that the generated rules are humanly understandable while their accuracy compared favorably with other benchmark classification methods. In addition, the produced FRBS is able to identify the uncertainty cases so that the physician can give a special consideration to deal with them and this will result in a better management of efforts and tasks. Furthermore, employing ECS has specifically improved the ability of FRBS to detect patients with CHD which is desirable feature for any CHD diagnosis system.

Abstract:Human disease diagnosis is a complicated process and requires high level of expertise. Any attempt of developing a web-based expert system dealing with human disease diagnosis has to overcome various difficulties. This paper describes a project work aiming to develop a web-based fuzzy expert system for diagnosing human diseases. Now a days fuzzy systems are being used successfully in an increasing number of application areas; they use linguistic rules to describe systems. This research project focuses on the research and development of a web-based clinical tool designed to improve the quality of the exchange of health information between health care professionals and patients. Practitioners can also use this web-based tool to corroborate diagnosis. The proposed system is experimented on various scenarios in order to evaluate it's performance. In all the cases, proposed system exhibits satisfactory results.

Abstract:Timely detection of illnesses is vital to prevent severe infections and ensure effective treatment, as it's always better to prevent diseases than to cure them. Sadly, many patients remain undiagnosed until their conditions worsen, resulting in high death rates. Expert systems offer a solution by automating early-stage diagnoses using a fuzzy rule-based approach. Our study gathered data from various sources, including hospitals, to develop an expert system aimed at identifying early signs of diseases, particularly heart conditions. The diagnostic process involves collecting and processing test results using the expert system, which categorizes disease risks and aids physicians in treatment decisions. By incorporating expert systems into clinical practice, we can improve the accuracy of disease detection and address challenges in patient management, particularly in areas with limited medical resources.

Abstract:Aquaculture is a critical source of seafood production, addressing the global demand for fish products. Suggesting a Deep learning-based classification technique for fishes specifically Indian Major Carp (IMC) as Mrigala, Catla and Rohu is the major objective of this paper along with detecting the disease among them. This world inside hydrosphere has their own discrete living manner. Yet they are not untouched by diseases; fishes mostly affected when young carry pathogens which cause various infections naturally or due to environmental pollutants including chemical and hazardous waste. This paper proposed the classification and prediction of diseases of fishes in aquaculture using Deep Learning based customized Convolutional Neural Network with ResNet-50 model. The proposed model performance metric compared with recent state-of-art techniques. ResNet-50 classifies accurately the IMC and type of disease the fishes are suffering from.

Abstract:Lymph Node Metastasis (LNM) has become one of the most important prognostic factors regarding long-term survival in gastric cancer. As it is difficult for doctors to integrate multiple factors for a comprehensive analysis, Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) is used to help the analysis. In this paper, a new Cooperative Belief Rule Based (CBRB) prototype CDSS is proposed. CBRB consists of two independent Belief Rule Base (BRB) systems and the final output is combined by the Evidential Reasoning (ER) approach. A corresponding new Cooperative CoEvolutionary Algorithm (CCEA) is proposed to train the proposed CBRB model that is nonlinear. A case study demonstrates that the proposed CDSS prototype can obtain the better performance than other CDSS.

Abstract:India has approximately seven qualified doctors for every 10,000 people, highlighting the several issues confronting the medical industry, including physician insufficiency, slower pace of diagnosis, and untimely provision of medical aid to common people. Because clinical decision-making requires the highest degree of precision in diagnosis, it is time-consuming and challenging work for physicians. Physicians may benefit significantly from using an automated computing system that aids them in disease diagnosis. Numerous research studies have developed an effective medical expert system to support physicians. However, reaching the highest level of precision remains a challenge. We developed an intelligent medical system based on machine learning and enhancement methodologies because we saw a need to improve diagnostic precision. This research proposes and tests a medical intelligent system design using four different medical datasets. The authors offer a fuzzy logic-based expert system for ACI (Ant Colony Improvement). To develop fuzzy categorization rules, this system uses the ACO approach. The artificial ants create possible fuzzy search criteria, and stochasticity the method encourages ants to develop more accurate rules. The fuzzy inference engine makes conclusions about testing patterns using these updated rules. The suggested system’s performance is compared to those of various current systems. With an average accuracy of 93.27% on different datasets, it is discovered that the suggested approach outperforms all existing methodologies for different disease diagnosis datasets.

Model-based Reasoning Methods for Diagnosis in Integrative Medicine Based on Electronic Medical Records and Natural Language Processing

Abstract:AbstractBackgroundThis study aimed to investigate model-based reasoning (MBR) algorithms for the diagnosis of integrative medicine based on electronic medical records (EMRs) and natural language processing.MethodsA total of 14,075 medical records of clinical cases were extracted from the EMRs as the development dataset, and an external test dataset consisting of 1,000 medical records of clinical cases was extracted from independent EMRs. MBR methods based on word embedding, machine learning, and deep learning algorithms were developed for the automatic diagnosis of syndrome pattern in integrative medicine. MBR algorithms combining rule-based reasoning (RBR) were also developed. A standard evaluation metrics consisting of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score were used for the performance estimation of the methods. The association analyses were conducted on the sample size, number of syndrome pattern type, and diagnosis of lung diseases with the best algorithms.ResultsThe Word2Vec CNN MBR algorithms showed high performance (accuracy of 0.9586 in the test dataset) in the syndrome pattern diagnosis. The Word2Vec CNN MBR combined with RBR also showed high performance (accuracy of 0.9229 in the test dataset). The diagnosis of lung diseases could enhance the performance of the Word2Vec CNN MBR algorithms. Each group sample size and syndrome pattern type affected the performance of these algorithms.ConclusionThe MBR methods based on Word2Vec and CNN showed high performance in the syndrome pattern diagnosis in integrative medicine in lung diseases.
