The Structural Features of Narratives in Television Interview

Abstract:Besides the narrative features of everyday conversation,the narrative discourse of television interview is also influenced by its institutional context.As a pre-prepared narrative for the audience,its narration,though develops with the interaction between the interviewer and interviewee,is mainly narrated by the interviewee because it is his/her story.Yet the narration is under the supervision of the interviewer with the help of mass-media effects such as sounds,action,screen scripts,pictures,etc.It is a narrative introduced by the interviewer,usually following some kind of background information inserted into the interview,taken up by the interviewee,and continued and finished with the interaction and cooperation of the two parties.The introduction and closing of the story takes up an important position in the narrative,with the introduction bringing out the necessity of the narration,and the closing stresses and highlights the meaning and value of the narrative in the particular context,and its contribution to the motif of the interview,thus finishes the narration and returns to the track of the interview.
