Abstract:To investigate the chemical compounds from the rhizome of Stellera chamaejasme, nine lignans, including stellerachamin A (1), 8-hydroxypluviatolide (2), wikstromol (3), pinoresinol (4), matairesinol (5), dextrobursehernin (6), hinokinin(7), (-)-glaberide I (8) and （-） medioresinol (9) were isolated by various chromatographic methods. Their structures were extensively determined on basis of MS and NMR spectroscopic data analysis. Among them, compound 1 was a new lignan, and compounds 2 and 7 were isolated from Thymelaeaceae for the first time.

Abstract:From 70% ethanol extract of the roots ofSmilax bockii warb., seven flavonoids, kaempferol (1), kaempferol-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), quercetin (3), isorhamnetin (4), (+)-dihydro-kaempferol (5), engeletin (6), isoengeletin (7), andn-butyl-β-D-fructopyranoside (8), caffeic acidn-butyl ester (9) were isolated and identified by means of chemical and spectroscopic. Compounds2,4, and6-9 were isolated for the first time from the roots of S.bockii and compounds2,8, and9 were firstly isolated from the genusSmilax. In addition, using the SEAP (Secreted alkaline phosphatase) assay system, we investigated thein vitro anti-inflammatory activity of the 70% ethanol extract of the roots ofS. bockii, which showed moderate activity in inhibiting TNF-α-induced NF-κB activation with an IC50 value of 166.6 μ.g/mL.

Abstract:Six new lignans (2-7) were isolated from the bark of Larix olgensis var. koreana, and their structures were determined on the basis of their spectroscopic data. Seven known lignans were also obtained and identified as (+)-lariciresinol 9'-p-coumarate (1), (+)-lariciresinol, (-)-secoisolariciresinol, (+)-isolariciresinol, vladinol D, sesquipinsapol B, and ehletianol C. Compound 1 showed weak inhibition against K562, SHG44, HCT-8, A549, and PC-3M tumor cells with IC50 values of 2.9, 21.4, 32.9, 33.8, and 28.0 mu g/mL, respectively.

Abstract:Phytochemical investigation of the roots of Syringa pinnatifolia has resulted in the isolation of a new lignan, pinnatifolin A (1), together with seven known compounds (2-8). The structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic methods, including NMR, MS, UV and IR spectra. The seven lignans were screened for their antioxidant activity (DPPH assay), and most of them showed potent antioxidant activity.

Abstract:Thirteen new iridoids including seven iridolactones, jatamanins A-M (1-13), and a new lignan, (+)-9'-isovaleroxylariciresinol (14), together with seven known iridoids and 13 lignans were obtained from whole plants of Valeriana jatamansi. Structures of the new compounds were determined by spectroscopic and crystallographic methods, and the absolute configuration of compound 1 was assigned by application of the modified Mosher method. Jatamanins H (8) and 1 (9) are iridolactones with an unusual C-8-C-11 oxygen bridge, forming a cage-like structure. (+)-9'-Isovaleroxylariciresinol (14) showed significant in vitro cytotoxicity against PC-3M and HCT-8 cell lines, with 1050 values of 8.1 and 5.3 mu M, respectively.

Abstract:A new lignan, 9′-O-angelyllariciresinol ( 1 ), and 20 known compounds ( 2 – 21 ) were isolated from the petroleum ether fraction of Laggera crispata (Vahl) Hepper & J. R. I. Wood. Their structures were identified by spectral analysis (NMR, IR, UV, and MS). Activity screening showed that compound 5 exhibited significant inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus , while compound 2 exhibited significant inhibitory effect against liver cancer cell line HepG2.

Abstract:Five new dibenzocyclooctadiene lignans, schisphenlignans A-E (1-5), together with eight known ones, were isolated from the stems of Schisandra sphenanthera. The structures of 1-5 were elucidated based on the analysis of their NMR, MS and circular dichroism (CD) spectra. Some isolates were tested for their acute activities on insulin sensitivity in 3T3-L1 differentiated adipocytes, but none of them showed significant bioactivity with 10 mu M administration of the tested compounds.

Abstract:A new sesquilignan, 7′,8′-didehydroherpetotriol (1), and a new lignan glycoside, (+)-isolariciresinol-9′-O-α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-d-glucopyranoside (2), were isolated from the branches of Dipteronia dyeriana. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and chemical evidence. Compound 1 possessed inhibitory activity against human leukaemia K562 cells with an IC50 value of 39μmol/L.

Abstract:One new lignan, named Z-pinnatifolin A, along with ten known analogues, were isolated from the stem bark of Syringa pinnatifolia by various chromatographic methods. Their structures were extensively determined on basis of MS and NMR spectroscopic data analyses, and comparison with those in literature. Among them, compounds 3,4, and 8-11 were isolated from this genus for the first time, and 5-7 were isolated from the specie for the first time. Compound 1 showed a moderate inhibition on NO production in BV-2 cells. The present study provides a preliminary data for clarification of bioactive ingredients of S.pinnatifolia with anti-myocardial ischemic effect.

Abstract:This project is to investigate lignans from the dried fruits of Xanthium sibiricum (Xanthii Fructus). The chemical constituents were extract by 70% ethanol and isolated by silica gel, ODS, Sephadex LH-20, MCI column chromatography. Abstract:A new lignan named schilignan F (1), together with twelve known ones (2-13), were isolated from the rattan stems of Schisandra chinensis. Their chemical structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods including one and two-dimensional NMR spectra referring to the literatures as well as high-resolution mass spectrometric analysis. All compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxicities against human Hela cancer cell lines in vitro. The results showed that compounds 2, 6 and 8 exhibited weak cytotoxic activity with IC50 values of 30.6, 86.3 and 41.0 μM, and cisplatin showed cytotoxic activity with IC50 value of 27.3 μM.

Structures of these compounds were elucidated through 1H NMR, 13C NMR, 2D NMR, ESI-MS and CD data.

Abstract:Objective To study the chemical composition of the rhizome of Smilax bockii Warb.Methods The compounds were isolated by chromatography on silica gel column and identified on the basis of physico-chemical constants and spectral analysis.Result Five compounds were isolated as kaempferol (Ⅰ);kaempferol-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(Ⅱ);dihydrokaempferol(Ⅲ); quercetine (Ⅳ); isorhamnetin(Ⅴ).Conclusion The above five compounds are obtained from this plant for the first time.
