Application of Boston matrix in management of the department of clinical laboratory

Abstract:Objective To make contrastive researches between special laboratories of the clinical department in hospital in order to provide references for the management of the clinical laboratory. Methods The annual workload, incomes and expense on reagents of each special laboratory from the year 2001 to 2005 in the department of clinical laboratory were investigated. The comparatively occupying and average increasing rates on each laboratory were analyzed and evaluated by Boston matrix. Results The biochemical laboratory, immunological and molecular biological laboratory were at better status in Boston matrix analysis. Conclusion Boston matrix analysis method will provide useful information for the management of the department of clinical laboratory in hospital.
